Job Overview: The position of External Contractor for SDG Data Analysis and Dashboard Creation is focused on enhancing the use of evidence in national SDG reporting and improving the communication of SDG data through the development of clear, concise, and professionally designed dashboards. The contractor will play a crucial role in analyzing SDG data and creating statistical charts and dashboards that will be used for national SDG progress assessments. This role is essential in supporting countries as they prepare for their Voluntary National Review in 2027, ensuring that they have the necessary tools and methodologies to effectively track and report on their progress towards the SDGs. The contractor will work under the guidance of the head of the Statistical Data Management Unit (SDMU) within the Statistics Division, contributing to the overall mission of ESCAP to promote sustainable development in the region.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the External Contractor include sourcing, processing, and analyzing the latest SDG data in accordance with the methodologies adopted by the Statistics Division. The contractor will also participate in the development of innovative methodologies to track SDG progress, utilizing advanced data science techniques. A key responsibility will be to create visually appealing and informative dashboards that present data and trends for SDG data exploration and analysis. This work is part of a broader effort to provide member states with annual updates and recommendations regarding the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development in Asia and the Pacific. The contractor will also engage in regional and sub-regional dialogues on SDG implementation, contributing to the development of knowledge products that track progress and support stakeholder engagement.
Required Qualifications: The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent as a minimum qualification. A university degree or higher education in communication technology, with a specialization in data science and/or data visualization, is considered an asset. Additionally, the contractor must have experience in data visualization and developing graphic designs for online publication. Experience within the UN system is advantageous, as it provides familiarity with the organization's processes and methodologies.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess at least a high school diploma or equivalent. However, a university degree or higher education in fields related to communication technology, particularly with a focus on data science and data visualization, is highly desirable.
