UNFPA's mission is to achieve universal access to sexual and reproductive health, realize reproductive rights, and reduce maternal mortality. The organization has been actively working towards these goals since its inception and operates in numerous countries worldwide, focusing on improving the lives of adolescents, youth, and women. UNFPA launched three transformative results in 2018 aimed at ending unmet need for family planning, preventable maternal deaths, and gender-based violence.
