Job Overview:
The Youth Education Manager is a pivotal role within the IRC New York, responsible for leading and managing the programming aimed at children and youth, particularly newcomer youth in the New York City area. This position oversees an annual program portfolio valued at approximately $3.5 million, ensuring that the needs of these youth are met through effective program development and implementation. The manager will ensure compliance with grants and contracts, actively participate in fundraising efforts, and develop partnerships that enhance the program's reach and effectiveness. The role requires a strategic vision for youth programming, including the design and execution of various educational initiatives such as tutoring, summer academies, and support coaching. The Youth Education Manager will also represent the IRC in local forums, advocating for educational issues affecting youth and fostering relationships with local educational and social service entities.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Youth Education Manager will be responsible for a wide range of duties, including but not limited to: providing leadership and vision for youth programming, overseeing the implementation of various program activities, establishing and maintaining relationships with local educational and social service organizations, managing partnerships and subgrants, contributing to grant writing efforts, ensuring accurate reporting of programmatic data, coordinating with other IRC departments for seamless service delivery, managing a team of approximately 10 staff members, conducting performance evaluations, recruiting and training staff, developing program budgets, managing expenses, overseeing subgrant partnerships, and collaborating with communication staff on media initiatives. The manager will also be expected to perform other duties as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic work environment.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates for the Youth Education Manager position must possess a Bachelor’s degree, with an advanced degree in education, child psychology, social work, or a related field strongly preferred. Additionally, candidates should have a minimum of five years of progressive work experience in education and/or youth development programming, with at least three years of experience managing complex education programs. Experience in subgrant management and working with English Language Learning students is essential. The ideal candidate will also have previous fundraising and grant writing experience, strong analytical skills, and excellent oral and written communication abilities.
