Job Overview: The Information, Counseling and Legal Assistance (ICLA) Information Field Assistant plays a crucial role in providing direct support to refugees through information dissemination and legal assistance. This position is based in the NRC North Lebanon office located in Arqa, within the Akkar governorate, and involves daily fieldwork across various locations in the North. The assistant will be responsible for ensuring compliance with NRC policies and donor requirements, implementing work plans, and coordinating with relevant partners. The role requires the ability to conduct outreach sessions, organize legal counseling, and manage data effectively, all while maintaining a focus on protection and community engagement.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the ICLA Information Field Assistant include ensuring adherence to NRC policies and donor requirements, implementing work plans on a weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis, and coordinating with relevant partners. The assistant will supervise and train ICLA Information Focal Points, prepare periodic activity reports, and support mapping and assessment exercises. They will conduct individual and group information sessions, organize legal counseling sessions for refugees, follow case management and data management procedures, and assist in sensitizing Syrian and Palestinian refugees about ICLA activities. Additionally, the assistant will prepare relevant mapping of services provided by other actors, conduct regular assessments, and maintain an up-to-date archiving system for legal cases. They will work closely with ICLA lawyers and follow up on cases needing counseling or legal assistance, ensuring that all protection-related cases are referred appropriately.
Required Qualifications: The position requires a Bachelor’s degree in law, International Relations, Social Sciences, or a related field. Candidates must have a minimum of 1 year of relevant work experience, particularly in similar roles within the humanitarian or development sector. Experience in legal and/or protection work in a humanitarian context is essential, as is experience in providing information and counseling services. Candidates should also have experience in community sensitization and the ability to communicate effectively in Arabic, with English being desirable. Proficiency in Microsoft Office software is also required.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in law, International Relations, Social Sciences, or a related field. This educational background is crucial for understanding the legal frameworks and social dynamics affecting refugees and displaced persons, enabling the assistant to provide informed and effective support.
Experience: The role requires at least 1 year of relevant work experience, particularly in humanitarian or development contexts.
