Job Overview:
The UN Volunteer will play a crucial role in supporting the Reporting and Information Management Team Lead at WFP Kenya. This position involves a variety of tasks aimed at enhancing the organization's reporting, information management, and communication efforts. The volunteer will assist in drafting and consolidating reports, managing information, and developing communication materials that highlight the impact of WFP's operations in Kenya. The role requires collaboration with various teams within WFP to ensure that information is accurately captured and effectively communicated to stakeholders. The volunteer will also contribute to knowledge management initiatives, ensuring that lessons learned and best practices are documented and shared.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Reporting Support: Draft, edit, and consolidate reporting products such as situation updates, programme briefs, and operational summaries. Compile information from field offices to ensure timely reporting. Prepare donor communication materials that highlight programme achievements. Develop presentations and briefing notes aligned with WFP standards.
  • Information Management: Organize and disseminate programme information across teams. Maintain information storage and knowledge management systems. Consolidate programme data for reporting purposes. Present information in user-friendly formats for various audiences. Document lessons learned and best practices from WFP Kenya activities.
  • Communication and Content Development: Draft human-interest stories and programme highlights. Conduct research to support storytelling efforts. Develop written content for publications and internal communication products. Assist in creating communication materials for stakeholders. Ensure alignment with WFP branding and communication guidelines.
  • Coordination: Liaise with various teams to gather timely information and updates. Support coordination of reporting requests across WFP units and stakeholders. Facilitate communication between WFP Kenya and the Resident Coordinator's Office. Promote coherence in messaging and strategic engagement.
  • Additional Responsibilities: Support knowledge sharing initiatives within the team and perform other related duties as required.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates should possess strong writing and communication skills, with the ability to draft and edit various types of documents. Proficiency in information management and reporting is essential. Familiarity with WFP's mission and operations will be beneficial. The ideal candidate should demonstrate integrity, collaboration, commitment, humanity, and inclusion in their work.

Educational Background:
A degree in communications, international relations, social sciences, or a related field is required. Additional training or certifications in reporting, information management, or humanitarian assistance will be an advantage.

Experience:
Candidates should have some experience in reporting, communications, or information management, preferably within a humanitarian or development context. Experience working with international organizations or NGOs is highly desirable. Familiarity with data analysis and knowledge management practices will be beneficial.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, as it is the working language of WFP. Knowledge of Swahili is an asset, as it will facilitate communication within the local context. Additional languages may be considered an advantage, particularly those relevant to WFP's operations.

Additional Notes:
The position is based in Nairobi, Kenya, which offers comfortable living conditions and a moderate security environment. The contract duration is specified, with the possibility of extensions based on funding and performance. UN Volunteers receive a Volunteer Living Allowance (VLA) to cover basic needs, along with life and health insurance, travel allowances, and a resettlement allowance upon satisfactory service completion. The role is full-time and requires adherence to UN security protocols.
