Job Overview: The position of Assistant(e) Financier(e) is a locally recruited role based in Burkina Faso, where the individual will work closely with the project team to contribute to the implementation of planned activities, taking on the responsibilities of a Project Finance Associate. Under the supervision of the Finance Officer, the Assistant(e) Financier(e) will handle accounting and finance functions, as well as other supportive tasks related to the project. This role is crucial in ensuring that the project adheres to the operational rules and standards set by FHI 360 and the United States Government (USG). The Assistant(e) Financier(e) will assist in organizing, preparing, and managing financial and accounting documents related to the project, ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations and guidelines.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Assistant(e) Financier(e) will be responsible for a variety of tasks including but not limited to: timely recording of accounting transactions; assisting the Finance Officer with periodic accounting closure tasks and financial reporting; ensuring compliance with social and tax declaration schedules and timely payment of IUTS, CNSS, and other taxes owed by the organization; preparing the liquidation of invoices and other expense documents, issuing payment instruments for the project director's signature; ensuring proper allocation and liquidation of advances to staff; maintaining accurate accounting and personnel archives; aiding in the preparation of internal and external audits; systematically scanning accounting bundles and making them available; ensuring payments for participants, meetings, conferences, workshops, and travel in accordance with organizational policy; collecting reports related to programs, training, workshops, travel, and other project-related reports for liquidation purposes; managing petty cash; and performing other tasks as required by the Supervisor.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a minimum of a Bac+2 in Accounting, Finance, or a related field, with a preference for higher qualifications. A minimum of three (3) years of experience in accounting or finance is required, with demonstrated experience in financial and accounting management within NGOs or projects funded by international donors. At least two years of experience in financial archiving is preferred, particularly in digital archiving. Proficiency in accounting software for at least one year is necessary, with a preference for candidates with over three years of experience. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential, along with the ability to proactively manage multiple major activities simultaneously and in an organized manner. Strong verbal and written communication skills in French are mandatory, while knowledge of English is considered an asset.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a minimum of a Bac+2 degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A higher degree is preferred, which would enhance the candidate's qualifications for the role and their ability to perform the required tasks effectively.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience in accounting or finance. Candidates should have demonstrated experience in managing financial and accounting functions, particularly within the context of NGOs or projects funded by international donors. Experience in financial archiving, especially digital archiving, is also highly valued, as is proficiency in accounting software.
Languages: Fluency in French is mandatory for this position, with excellent verbal and written communication skills required. Additional Notes: The expected hiring salary range for this role is XOF 6,000,000 - 7,000,000 annually for basic salary.
