Job Overview:
The Technical Support Specialist will be responsible for providing specialized technical support services, managing Kubernetes clusters, and collaborating with other units within the Department of Information Technology and Digital Innovation (DITID) to deliver technical solutions. The role emphasizes ensuring high availability, performance, and security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security of UNRWA systems environments, adhering to established operational standards. The incumbent will be expected to conduct systems health checks, monitor performance, and mitigate risks to maintain optimal functionality of the systems. This position is crucial for maintaining the integrity and reliability of the agency's IT infrastructure, particularly during transitions and upgrades.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Technical Support Specialist include, but are not limited to: supporting the technical handover of UNRWA systems infrastructure built on Azure cloud app services and Kubernetes; performing application systems administration tasks, including managing MS SQL server database software, software patch management, and software upgrades; conducting systems health and performance monitoring checks to ensure optimal functionality and risk mitigation; providing maintenance and monitoring works to ensure system availability and efficient performance; preparing and presenting technical reports on application performance and operational issues; maintaining up-to-date documentation of system inventory and client configurations; proactively identifying and mitigating operational and security risks; preparing comprehensive technical documentation and user manuals; participating in agile ceremonies and providing regular progress updates; and performing other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Required Qualifications:
The position requires a university degree from an accredited educational institution in computer science, information technology, electrical/computer engineering, or a related discipline. Additionally, candidates must possess a minimum of 2 years of progressively responsible experience in Azure or cloud infrastructure and systems administration. Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure, including MS Windows Server Operating System and MS SQL database software and administration, is essential. Preferred qualifications include experience with Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) and familiarity with DevOps practices. Knowledge of networking concepts and observability tools is also beneficial.

Educational Background:
Candidates must hold a university degree from an accredited institution in a relevant field such as computer science, information technology, or electrical/computer engineering. This educational background is critical for understanding the technical aspects of the role and for effectively managing the systems and infrastructure that the Technical Support Specialist will oversee.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 2 years of progressively responsible experience in Azure or cloud infrastructure and systems administration. This experience should include hands-on work with Microsoft Azure and related technologies, demonstrating the candidate's ability to manage and maintain complex IT systems effectively. Experience with Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) and DevOps methodologies is preferred, as these skills will enhance the candidate's ability to contribute to the agency's technical operations.

Languages:
Fluency in both Arabic and English is required for this position, as these are the working languages of UNRWA. Proficiency in these languages is essential for effective communication within the agency and with stakeholders, ensuring that technical documentation and reports are accessible to all relevant parties.

Additional Notes:
The selected candidate will be based in UNRWA Headquarters in Amman, Jordan, and must be a local citizen of the country of assignment. The contract duration is up to 12 months, with the possibility of extension based on the availability of funds and satisfactory performance. The monthly remuneration for this position is equivalent to the UNRWA local salary scale of grade 12 Step 1, amounting to JD845.00 for each fully completed month.
