Job Overview: The Employment Supervisor plays a crucial role in leading a dedicated team that provides a range of employment services aimed at helping clients achieve self-sufficiency and successful job placements. This position is responsible for overseeing various functions including assessment, self-sufficiency planning, job readiness training, vocational skills training, job search assistance, job placement, post-placement support, and the development and maintenance of partnerships with employers. The supervisor is tasked with ensuring that the team meets grant deliverables, particularly those related to job training, placement, wage, and retention. This role involves supervising staff, monitoring data, ensuring program goals are met, and supporting quality control measures to maintain compliance with contractual obligations. The Employment Supervisor must be adept at managing multiple priorities and delivering results in a fast-paced environment, while also fostering a collaborative and inclusive team culture.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Employment Supervisor's duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: leading and developing direct service staff through regular team meetings and individual supervision, which includes coaching and goal setting; assigning cases and overseeing staff workloads to ensure efficient service delivery; maintaining compliance with agency policies and procedures; communicating with staff regarding challenging cases and intervening professionally to ensure quality service delivery; supervising the implementation of programs including assessment, self-sufficiency planning, job readiness training, job search, job placement, post-placement support, and employer partnership development; coordinating training activities to ensure high-quality services that meet funder requirements; tracking enrolled clients using assigned database systems to ensure timely service provision and proper documentation; developing and maintaining relationships with local employers to secure job placement opportunities for clients; establishing strategic partnerships with community organizations to advance program objectives; conducting periodic case file and database reviews for quality assurance; monitoring the employment team's progress toward grant deliverables and proposing interventions when necessary; drafting program reports and components of grant proposals; and performing other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a university degree, preferably in International Studies, Business, Social Services, or a related field, or have equivalent work experience. Additionally, a minimum of 3 years of employment and/or relevant experience supporting clients facing barriers to employment in refugee resettlement, workforce development, or related social service delivery is required. Experience in supervising, supporting, and training staff is essential. Candidates should demonstrate a proven ability to promote an organizational culture that reflects the IRC’s core values of service, accountability, integrity, and equality. The ability to lead collaboration among individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds with varying skills and perspectives is crucial. Candidates must also exhibit strong organizational skills, the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively, and deliver quantifiable results under pressure and within deadlines. Excellent written and oral communication skills in English are mandatory, and proficiency in a language spoken by client populations is a plus. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is required, along with a valid driver’s license and access to a personal, insured vehicle for regular travel throughout the service delivery area.
Educational Background: The position requires a university degree, ideally in fields such as International Studies, Business, Social Services, or a related area. Alternatively, equivalent work experience may be considered in lieu of a formal degree. This educational background is essential to ensure that the candidate possesses the necessary knowledge and skills to effectively support clients and manage employment services.
Experience: Candidates should have at least 3 years of relevant experience in employment services or related fields, particularly in supporting clients who face barriers to employment. Experience in refugee resettlement, workforce development, or social service delivery is highly valued. Additionally, prior experience in a supervisory role, where the candidate has successfully trained and supported staff, is essential for this position.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, with excellent written and oral communication skills required. Proficiency in a language spoken by the client populations served by the organization is considered a valuable asset and is highly desirable.
Additional Notes: The Employment Supervisor position is typically based in a combination of standard office environments, remote work, and field time to fulfill the outlined responsibilities. The role is generally onsite for 4 days a week, with the possibility of occasional weekend and/or evening work. The compensation for this position is set at a pay rate of $72,754, which may vary based on factors such as the labor market, job type, internal equity, and budget considerations.
