Job Overview:
The Due Diligence and Risk Assessment Specialist is a pivotal role within the PSS, focusing on conducting specialized research and analysis related to due diligence and risk assessments of proposed collaborations with the private sector and other non-state actors. This position requires a deep understanding of the FAO’s Framework for Due Diligence and Risk Assessment/Management for Engagements (FRAME) and involves utilizing various methodologies, guidelines, and digital tools to ensure thorough evaluations of potential partnerships. The specialist will be responsible for conducting screenings, analyzing complex ownership and governance structures, and preparing comprehensive reports that identify risk factors associated with prospective engagements. Additionally, the role includes providing technical advice, contributing to the development of methodologies, and supporting training initiatives to enhance the capacity of the organization in due diligence practices.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The specialist will conduct due diligence and risk assessment screenings for proposed engagements with the private sector and other non-state actors, ensuring compliance with the FRAME guidelines. Responsibilities include reviewing screening requests, assessing mandatory documentation such as financial statements, and conducting in-depth research using various information sources to support risk assessments. Candidates must possess an advanced university degree from an institution recognized by the International Association of Universities (IAU)/UNESCO in fields such as ethics, business management, accounting, finance, economics, law, or international relations. Those with a bachelor's degree must have two additional years of relevant professional experience. A minimum of three years of relevant experience in a professional environment as a due diligence/risk assessment analyst is required. Proficiency in English is mandatory, with additional languages such as French, Spanish, Arabic, Chinese, or Russian being advantageous.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes an advanced university degree in a relevant field recognized by the IAU/UNESCO. Candidates with a bachelor's degree must have additional professional experience to compensate for the lack of an advanced degree. This educational foundation is essential for understanding the complexities of due diligence and risk assessment in an international context.

Experience:
The position requires at least three years of relevant experience in a professional role focused on due diligence and risk assessment analysis. Candidates should have practical experience applying due diligence approaches and methodologies, preferably within the UN system or in an international context. Familiarity with digital due diligence platforms and experience in analyzing ESG and reputational risks are also desirable.

Languages:
Full proficiency or working knowledge of English is mandatory. Candidates should also possess proficiency in one or more of the following languages: French, Spanish, Arabic, Chinese, or Russian. A second FAO language may be beneficial depending on the assignment.
