Job Overview: The internship-position" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">internship position involves assisting the Partnership & Operational Development Service (SPDO) with various tasks related to geographical desks and the overall service. The internship is designed to provide insights into the functioning of an NGO's headquarters and the relationships between the headquarters and field operations. Interns will gain exposure to the different roles within Solidarités International, both at the headquarters and in the field, and will have the opportunity to understand the specific constraints of humanitarian missions. The internship aims to deepen knowledge of humanitarian and geopolitical issues in the countries of the desks, enhance skills in analyzing priorities and identifying needs, and familiarize interns with the main requirements and procedures of funding agencies. Interns will also learn about project cycle management tools and strategic planning processes within an NGO.
Duties and Responsibilities: Interns will assist the Partnership & Operational Development Service (SPDO) and the service manager in executing tasks related to geographical desks. They will provide support to country offices in managing grants and implementation partnerships, including the development of project proposals and reports for donors. Interns will also support administrative tasks necessary for the management of programs and grants at the country offices or within the SPDO service. This includes producing documents, formats, or internal capitalization notes and participating in relevant meetings. Interns will be responsible for ensuring the flow of information between different stakeholders (desk, headquarters, field) and will assist in mastering the tools related to the management of various cycles, including grants, projects, and partnerships.
Required Qualifications: Candidates should possess a higher education degree (level bac +5) preferably focused on project management and/or humanitarian work, political science, or international relations, with knowledge of issues related to water, food security, or rehabilitation. A genuine interest and motivation for the non-profit and humanitarian sector is essential, along with a willingness to work in the field in the short term. Previous international work experience is appreciated. Candidates should have excellent writing, synthesis, and spelling skills, as well as critical thinking and analytical abilities. Autonomy, rigor, responsiveness, organization, efficiency, versatility, and a strong capacity for work are also important. Proficiency in Microsoft Windows (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), internet, and email (Outlook) is required. Fluency in English is mandatory.
Educational Background: A higher education degree (level bac +5) is required, ideally in project management, humanitarian studies, political science, or international relations. Knowledge of water-related issues, food security, or rehabilitation is preferred.
Experience: Candidates should have some level of experience, preferably in international settings, which can include internships, volunteer work, or previous employment in related fields. Experience in project management or humanitarian work is particularly valuable.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory. Knowledge of French is likely beneficial given the location and the organization’s operations. Additional languages relevant to the countries of operation may also be advantageous.
Additional Notes: The internship is based at the headquarters of SOLIDARITES INTERNATIONAL in Clichy (92), accessible via the Mairie de Clichy metro station. The internship requires a mandatory internship agreement. The compensation is set at €4.70 per hour, calculated pro-rata based on actual hours worked each month (approximately 154 hours per month, equating to 22 days of 7 hours each).
