Job Overview:
The position of Asistente de Cadena de Suministros is crucial for ensuring the efficient and timely execution of procurement processes, inventory management, and routine administrative and financial tasks within the WFP office in El Salvador. The role involves providing comprehensive operational support to the supply chain unit, which is responsible for the effective delivery of humanitarian assistance. The assistant will work under the supervision of the supply chain coordinator and will be expected to maintain reliable records, ensure data quality, and comply with established procedures while coordinating effectively with internal clients and external suppliers. This position is designed for individuals who are proactive, detail-oriented, and capable of working in a fast-paced environment, contributing to the overall mission of WFP to provide food assistance to vulnerable populations.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Asistente de Cadena de Suministros will have a wide range of responsibilities, including but not limited to: executing procurement processes for goods and services in a timely manner, preparing and distributing procurement documentation, maintaining and updating databases and records of purchases and suppliers, supporting the strengthening of the supplier roster, monitoring supplier evaluations, receiving and dispatching products efficiently, preparing and verifying warehouse and transport documentation, conducting daily reconciliations and inventory controls, monitoring warehouse conditions and product status, contributing to continuous improvement in warehouse processes, providing guidance and training to warehouse staff, addressing inquiries from internal and external clients, ensuring data integrity for accurate information availability, and assisting with administrative and financial tasks across various functional areas.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in fields such as Business Administration, Economics, Industrial Engineering, Accounting, or a related area. Additionally, candidates should have at least three years of experience in procurement and/or logistics activities, including daily interactions with suppliers or third parties. Experience in conducting analyses and preparing reports is also required, along with general knowledge of occupational safety and hygiene in warehouses. Familiarity with the operation and maintenance of forklifts is preferred, as well as proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel. Experience with corporate systems in a SAP environment and/or logistics databases is desirable. Candidates should also demonstrate strong organizational skills and the ability to work collaboratively in a team setting.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a completed bachelor’s degree in relevant fields such as Business Administration, Economics, Industrial Engineering, Accounting, or other related disciplines. This educational foundation is essential for understanding the complexities of supply chain management and procurement processes, which are critical to the role.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of three years of relevant experience in procurement and/or logistics. This experience should include daily interactions with suppliers and third parties, as well as a proven track record in conducting analyses and preparing reports. Candidates should also have experience in warehouse operations and an understanding of safety and hygiene standards in such environments. Familiarity with the operation of forklifts is an added advantage.

Languages:
Proficiency in English is mandatory for this position, as it is essential for communication within the organization and with external partners. Knowledge of additional languages may be considered an asset, enhancing the candidate's ability to engage with diverse stakeholders and contribute to the organization's global mission.
