Job Overview:
The Protection Officer will work under the technical supervision of the Protection Team Leader and will be responsible for conducting ethical interviews with community members, ensuring representation across different age, gender, and diversity profiles. The role involves assisting at-risk individuals with referrals, monitoring emerging trends of violations, and managing day-to-day casework activities. The Protection Officer will also collaborate with various teams within DRC, including economic recovery and emergency teams, and will be responsible for managing both routine and complex cases, ensuring adherence to DRC's Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Protection Officer's responsibilities include providing direct client services within the case management program, conducting intake interviews, performing comprehensive protection risk assessments, developing tailored case plans, and providing emotional support to clients. The officer will manage cases according to DRC SOPs, conduct timely referrals, support service mapping, prepare procurement documents, maintain professional conduct, and ensure data protection and confidentiality. Additionally, the officer will assist in onboarding new staff, participate in case conferences, document protection activities, monitor protection concerns, and coordinate with stakeholders at the district and community levels.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must have at least 3 years of experience in case management with INGOs, NGOs, or the UN. They should demonstrate strong organizational skills, the ability to manage multiple tasks, and a commitment to human rights. Experience in qualitative interviews and data management, particularly with KOBO and online data collection tools, is preferred. Candidates should also possess a high level of professionalism, integrity, and confidentiality.

Educational Background:
A degree from a well-recognized university in law, political sciences, research methods, social work, psychology, or other relevant disciplines is required for this position.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in case management, preferably within the context of INGOs, NGOs, or UN agencies. Candidates should be adept at handling multiple tasks and demonstrate problem-solving abilities, as well as a commitment to protecting human rights.

Languages:
Fluency in Dari and Pashto is mandatory, along with a working level of English. Proficiency in these languages is essential for effective communication with clients and stakeholders.
