Job Overview: The IDB Country Office in Trinidad and Tobago is seeking an active Graduate Student to join as a 2026 intern under the Consultant modality. This internship is a paid opportunity designed for university students from member countries to gain insights into development work and corporate management within the Bank. Interns will acquire valuable work experience through on-the-job learning, assisting in various projects and initiatives that contribute to the Bank's mission. The role involves supporting the Operations Team in planning and executing public events, improving visitor experiences, and assisting with administrative tasks, all while fostering a collaborative and innovative work environment.
Duties and Responsibilities: As an intern, you will be responsible for assisting the Operations Team with the planning and execution of public events, including but not limited to 'Knowledge Week'. You will engage in at least two projects aimed at enhancing both internal and external visitor experiences, which may involve developing protocols for missions and meetings that integrate digital applications. Additionally, you will support the design of quick graphics for events and slide visuals, compile inputs for reporting, draft sections of post-event reports, and provide administrative support to the Country Economist in preparing and executing stakeholder consultations for the Country Strategy 2026-203
Other activities will be assigned as agreed upon with your internship supervisor, allowing for a diverse range of experiences during your time with the IDB.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must be active graduate students enrolled in a master's or Ph.D. program in Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related Social Science field at an accredited university. The expected graduation date must be on or after the last day of the internship. Additionally, applicants must be citizens or legal residents of Trinidad and Tobago and should not have family members working at the IDB or IDB Invest. This internship is intended for first-time participants in the IDB's Internship Program, and candidates should not have been former staff members or contractors for the Bank or Corporation.
Educational Background: The ideal candidate will be pursuing a graduate degree in a relevant field such as Business Administration, Public Administration, or Social Sciences. It is essential that at least 50% of the coursework is completed by the time of application, and candidates must provide documentation to verify their student status, including academic transcripts and a university letter. These documents should be issued within the last three months to ensure they reflect the current academic standing of the applicant.
Experience: This internship is designed for individuals who are currently enrolled in a graduate program, thus prior professional experience is not a strict requirement. However, any relevant experience in project management, event planning, or administrative support will be considered an asset. Languages: Proficiency in English is mandatory, as it is the primary language of communication within the IDB.
