GMM is currently responding to the increased needs for educational and social support due to the Anglophone crisis that began in 2016, which has led to displacement and economic hardship for many families in the North-West and South-West Regions of Cameroon. As part of its strategic modernization and restructuring efforts, GMM is seeking skilled Online Volunteers to assist in transforming its Child Sponsorship Program, enhancing efficiency, accountability, and donor engagement.

Job Overview:
The Online Volunteer position at Goodness and Mercy Missions involves contributing professional expertise to support the transformation of the Child Sponsorship Program. Volunteers will work closely with the GMM leadership team and may engage in various areas, including program restructuring, campaign development, website and digital platform development, grant writing, and reporting systems. This role is designed for individuals who are passionate about child welfare, educational access, and sustainable community development, particularly in a conflict-affected context. Volunteers will have the opportunity to make a meaningful impact by helping to strengthen systems, improve donor communication, enhance digital visibility, and expand sponsorship opportunities for children in need. The work will require creativity, strategic thinking, and a commitment to the values of GMM, as volunteers will be tasked with developing innovative approaches to engage donors and improve the overall effectiveness of the sponsorship program.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Selected Online Volunteers will be responsible for a variety of tasks aimed at enhancing the Child Sponsorship Program. These include:

• Program Restructuring and Sponsorship Framework: Reviewing the current child sponsorship structure and recommending improvements; developing clear sponsorship categories and contribution tiers; defining and documenting what each sponsorship package covers (tuition, books, uniforms, feeding, healthcare, mentorship, etc.); assisting in creating child selection and sponsorship management guidelines; and recommending systems for sustainable sponsor-child matching and program coordination.
• Campaign Development and Marketing Strategy: Designing a professional donor engagement and promotional strategy; developing creative approaches for attracting individual and institutional sponsors; assisting in creating compelling storytelling frameworks for child sponsorship campaigns; recommending social media, email, and digital outreach strategies; and supporting the development of branding and communication materials for fundraising campaigns.
• Website and Digital Platform Development Support: Advising on the structure and content of a professional child sponsorship webpage; proposing layouts and content categories for child profiles and sponsorship information; helping improve online presentation, accessibility, and donor experience; recommending ethical and child-protection-conscious ways of presenting children’s stories and profiles online; and supporting the integration of transparency and reporting features into the digital platform.
• Grant Writing and Institutional Fundraising: Assisting in drafting high-quality grant proposals and concept notes; identifying potential funding opportunities and institutional donor prospects; helping prepare educational support and child welfare funding proposals; and supporting the development of donor-ready organizational materials and project summaries.
• Reporting, Monitoring, and Transparency Systems: Developing simple and professional sponsor reporting templates; designing systems for periodic child progress updates and sponsor communication; recommending monitoring and evaluation tools for tracking program impact; and supporting the creation of accountability and transparency mechanisms that strengthen donor trust.

Required Qualifications:
The ideal candidates for the Online Volunteer position should possess a range of qualifications that align with the responsibilities of the role. These may include strong communication skills, both written and verbal, as well as the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment. Volunteers should have experience in program development, marketing, or fundraising, particularly in the non-profit sector. Familiarity with child welfare issues and a commitment to ethical practices in working with vulnerable populations are essential. Additionally, volunteers should demonstrate creativity and strategic thinking in developing donor engagement strategies and marketing materials.
