Job Overview:
The internship-position" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">internship position is designed to provide support to the Programme Management Officer(s) in various capacities, particularly in the preparation and coordination of conferences. Interns will engage in a range of activities that include assisting with the planning of meetings, preparing documentation, and contributing to stakeholder engagement. This role is crucial for those looking to gain experience in international relations and conference management, as it involves direct interaction with UN entities, NGOs, and other partners. Interns will also have the opportunity to develop materials that support resource mobilization efforts, which is an essential skill in the field of international development and diplomacy.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Interns will be responsible for supporting the preparation and coordination of conferences, which includes planning meetings, timelines, and follow-up actions related to the organization of the 1st International Conference. They will assist in preparing documentation such as briefing notes, background materials, participant lists, presentations, and information packages for both internal and external stakeholders. Additionally, interns will contribute to stakeholder engagement by maintaining contact lists, drafting outreach messages, and facilitating communication with Member States, UN entities, NGOs, and other partners. They will also support logistical arrangements for virtual and in-person meetings, including scheduling, preparing agendas, taking notes, and ensuring smooth technical and administrative execution. Furthermore, interns will assist in developing banners and newsletters for the GFC Secretariat, the Fund, and the Special Programme, as well as materials to support resource mobilization efforts, including pitch decks for prospective donors. Other work-related duties may be assigned as required.

Required Qualifications:
Applicants must meet one of the following requirements: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent). While professional work experience is not required for the UN Internship Programme, a field of study closely related to the internship is necessary. Applicants must be students in the final year of their first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), Master’s, or Ph.D. Programme or equivalent, or have completed such programmes. Additionally, applicants should possess good knowledge of standard software applications, particularly MS Word, MS PowerPoint, MS Excel, and MS Teams, along with excellent organizational, research, analytical skills, and experience in drafting and report writing. Familiarity with UN processes, procedures, or conference management is considered an asset, as is knowledge in developing resource mobilization materials.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this internship includes being enrolled in or having completed a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher) or being enrolled in or having completed the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent). This ensures that candidates have a solid academic foundation relevant to the tasks they will undertake during the internship.

Experience:
While the internship does not require prior professional work experience, it is essential that applicants have a field of study that is closely related to the internship position. This allows interns to apply their academic knowledge in a practical setting and gain valuable experience in the field of international relations and conference management.

Languages:
Fluency in spoken and written English is required for the internship, as English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. Knowledge of an additional official UN language is considered an advantage. The official languages of the United Nations Secretariat include Arabic, Chinese, English, French, Russian, and Spanish, and proficiency in any of these languages can enhance an applicant's candidacy.

Interns are not financially remunerated by the United Nations, meaning that all costs and arrangements for travel, visas, accommodation, and living expenses are the responsibility of the interns or their sponsoring institutions. Interns who are not citizens or permanent residents of the country where the internship is undertaken may need to obtain the appropriate visa and work/employment authorization.
