Job Overview:
The Electrical Engineer position at CERN is a unique opportunity for individuals knowledgeable in Electrical Engineering to contribute to a challenging research infrastructure. The role involves working within the General Safety and Equipment Integrity section of the Occupational Health & Safety and Environmental Protection (HSE) Department. The successful candidate will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team of engineers, physicists, and technicians to update and harmonize CERN's Electrical Safety Rules, technical instructions, and conformity documentation. This includes analyzing existing documentation, addressing gaps, integrating updates from Host States' standards, and contributing to a modernized Safety framework. Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Electrical Engineer include providing support in terms of electrical safety to CERN technical departments, which involves supporting safety awareness activities and campaigns. The engineer will review existing CERN electrical safety documents to identify gaps, inconsistencies, and outdated content. They will be responsible for updating, drafting, and consolidating electrical safety documentation, including instructions, procedures, and conformity requirements, while integrating the latest requirements from relevant standards. Additionally, the engineer will support the development of standardized document structures, templates, and terminology, ensuring traceability and revision control. The role also includes providing support in safety risk assessment and risk control, equipment integrity, audits, and technical reviews.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess strong knowledge and experience in the field of Electrical Engineering. They should have experience in drafting or reviewing technical documentation, reports, procedures, or engineering standards in an academic, industrial, or project environment. Knowledge of electrical engineering topics such as installation principles, safety fundamentals, and conformity assessment is essential. Familiarity with international or national technical standards and regulations, such as IEC/EN standards, and their interpretation is required. The ability to work in a team and support group projects is also necessary, along with experience with photovoltaic equipment, which would be considered an asset.

Educational Background:
The position requires candidates to have a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field. Applicants must be nationals of a CERN Member or Associate Member State and should have a maximum of two years of professional experience since graduation by the application deadline. It is important to note that applicants without a university degree are not eligible, and those with a PhD are also not eligible for this position.
