Job Overview:
The Associate Communications Officer position is integral to the OSCE's communication strategy, focusing primarily on digital communications. The role involves providing comprehensive communication support, advice, and products to key stakeholders within the organization. The successful candidate will work closely with another Communications Officer and the Web Developer to enhance the visibility and recognition of the OSCE through effective communication strategies. The position requires a proactive approach to managing the OSCE public website and ensuring that communication products align with the organization's priorities. The Associate Communications Officer will also be responsible for guiding internal contributors, developing engaging content, and coordinating communication efforts across various OSCE programs and departments.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Associate Communications Officer include:
  • Maintaining the content and structure of the OSCE public website on a daily basis, ensuring it is up-to-date and meets the needs of diverse audience groups.
  • Guiding and supporting a network of internal website contributors, providing troubleshooting, training, and coaching as necessary.
  • Collaborating with OSCE Secretariat programs and departments to create and deliver communication products that align with organizational priorities.
  • Coordinating with communications teams from OSCE Institutions and Field Operations to ensure streamlined and professional communication across the organization.
  • Developing engaging texts, visuals, and stories for distribution across various communication channels.
  • Participating in a duty roster and performing other duties as required to support the overall communication objectives of the OSCE.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a second-level university degree in journalism, communications, multimedia, political science, international affairs, or a related field. Alternatively, a first-level university degree combined with two additional years of relevant experience will be accepted. A minimum of two years of progressively responsible professional experience in communications, including social media, multimedia, and website management, is required. Experience in an international organization, NGO, or as a journalist is preferred. Candidates should demonstrate political judgment and analytical skills, with the ability to present the organization's activities and achievements convincingly to external audiences. Familiarity with Drupal or similar content management systems is highly desirable.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a second-level university degree (Master's degree) in a relevant field such as journalism, communications, multimedia, political science, or international affairs. A first-level university degree (Bachelor's degree) combined with two additional years of relevant experience may also be accepted in lieu of the second-level degree.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of two years of progressively responsible professional experience in communications, which may include social media, multimedia, and website management. If the candidate holds a first-level university degree, four years of relevant experience is required. Experience in an international organization, non-governmental organization, or as a journalist is preferred, with a strong emphasis on writing, editing, and production of communication materials.

Languages:
Professional fluency in English is mandatory, with excellent oral and written communication skills. Knowledge of another OSCE official language is desirable, which may include languages such as French, German, Italian, or Russian, enhancing the candidate's ability to communicate effectively within the diverse OSCE environment.

This position is classified as an international secondment, with a fixed-term contract.
