Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Chief of the Regional Service Management Service include conceptualizing and developing strategies for major systems initiatives, overseeing the design and implementation of broadcast and audiovisual systems, providing technical and policy advice to senior management, leading a specialized team, managing procurements, developing performance measures, overseeing technical support services, preparing and monitoring budgets, and ensuring the development of standards and procedures. The incumbent will also be responsible for collecting and analyzing data to identify trends for data-driven planning and decision-making, ensuring that all team members can access and share necessary data effectively.
Required Qualifications: The position requires an advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in computer science, information systems, broadcast engineering, telecommunications, audiovisual engineering, media technology, or a related field. A first-level university degree combined with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree. ITIL certification and project management certification are mandatory, while relevant professional certifications in broadcast and audiovisual systems are desirable.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess an advanced university degree in relevant fields such as computer science, information systems, or broadcast engineering. A first-level university degree may be considered if accompanied by additional qualifying experience. Successful completion of degree and non-degree programs in data analytics, business analytics, or data science is advantageous.
Experience: A minimum of ten years of progressively responsible experience in managing, supporting, and planning information and communication technology services is required. This includes experience in overseeing initiatives that span ICT, broadcast, and audiovisual domains, leading multidisciplinary technology teams, and supporting high-level international meetings or large intergovernmental conferences. Experience in data analytics is considered a plus.
Languages: English is required for this position, with a minimum proficiency level of UN Level II in reading, writing, listening, and speaking. French is also a working language of the United Nations, but proficiency in French is not mandatory for this role.
