Job Overview:
The Programme Analyst position in Kyiv is pivotal in analyzing and assessing demographic and population trends to guide the delivery of UNFPA’s programs in Ukraine. Reporting to the UNFPA Demographic and Resilient Analyst, the role involves contributing to the new Ukraine Country Programme (2025–2029), which integrates humanitarian response with long-term development goals. The Programme Analyst will focus on human capital development, demographic resilience, and the modernization of the national statistical system, ensuring that UNFPA's activities effectively address urgent needs while promoting sustainable systems strengthening. The position requires a proactive approach to managing UNFPA activities related to Population and Development, ensuring that the organization meets its objectives and delivers impactful results.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Programme Analyst will participate in the identification and formulation of the country programme and component projects related to population and development. This includes compiling and analyzing relevant information, drafting project proposals, and implementing initiatives in collaboration with local stakeholders. The role involves evaluating project activities, conducting field visits, and preparing progress reports. The analyst will also coordinate project implementation, establish collaborative relationships with various partners, and contribute to knowledge sharing by documenting findings and best practices. Additionally, the analyst will analyze the political, social, and economic environment to identify opportunities for UNFPA assistance and support senior officers in maintaining partnerships with implementing partners and other UN agencies. The position requires a commitment to continuous learning and improvement, as well as the ability to provide data and evidence to support advocacy and resource mobilization efforts.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in quantitative social sciences such as economics, statistics, demography, public policy, sociology, or a related discipline. A minimum of 2 years of experience in data collection, analysis, visualization, dissemination, and database management within an academic or development institution in an international setting is required. Candidates should have strong competencies in statistical programming and knowledge of methodologies in population statistics and surveys. Familiarity with refugee and internal displacement data is an asset, as is experience in writing and publishing analytical articles. Strong interpersonal communication skills and familiarity with the UN system are desirable.

Educational Background:
The position requires an advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in quantitative social sciences, including but not limited to economics, statistics, demography, public policy, or sociology. This educational background is essential for understanding the complexities of population and development issues and for effectively analyzing demographic data.

Experience:
The ideal candidate should have at least 2 years of relevant experience in data collection, analysis, and research within an international context. This experience should include working with population statistics and methodologies, as well as familiarity with humanitarian settings and the ability to synthesize and utilize government administrative data sources. Experience in writing analytical articles is also beneficial.

Languages:
Fluency in English and Ukrainian is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset, enhancing the candidate's ability to communicate effectively in diverse environments and with various stakeholders.
