Job Overview:
The Education Senior Associate/Specialist position is designed for a proactive and dynamic individual who will play a crucial role in managing the IDB’s education portfolio in Belize. This role involves contributing to the implementation and supervision of grants and technical cooperation operations, coordinating strategic dialogues with the government and stakeholders, and promoting the IDB’s education initiatives. The successful candidate will work closely with the Education Division and the Country Office, engaging in activities that support education systems across Latin America and the Caribbean. The position requires advanced technical knowledge and project management skills to lead and contribute to the Bank’s dialogue with executing agencies, develop and implement educational projects, and conduct research to create innovative knowledge products.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Education Senior Associate/Specialist include leading the dialogue with executing agencies to support program planning and implementation, identifying and developing educational projects, conducting research and analytical work, participating in policy dialogues with the Government of Belize and other stakeholders, collaborating with colleagues to design multisectoral programs, establishing networks with technical and financial partners, promoting innovative approaches to improve learning outcomes, providing evidence-based recommendations, designing risk assessment frameworks, and facilitating change management processes. The role also involves promoting knowledge exchange across countries and leveraging regional evidence to inform project design and sector strategies.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Master’s degree or equivalent advanced degree in education, economics, public administration, public policy, sociology, or related fields. Additionally, candidates should have at least 3 years of relevant professional experience in the education sector, particularly in developing countries, with a focus on project promotion, design, financing, supervision, and evaluation.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a Master’s degree or an equivalent advanced degree in fields relevant to the role, such as education, economics, public administration, public policy, or sociology. This advanced education is essential for understanding the complexities of the education sector and for effectively contributing to the IDB’s initiatives.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 3 years of relevant professional experience in the education sector, particularly in developing countries. This experience should encompass various aspects of education project management, including promotion, programming, design, financing, supervision, implementation, and evaluation, ensuring that candidates are well-equipped to handle the responsibilities of the role.

Languages:
Proficiency in English, both spoken and written, is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of Spanish is considered preferable, as it may enhance communication and collaboration within the region and with various stakeholders.

Additional Notes:
The contract type for this position is an international staff contract, initially set for 36 months, with the possibility of renewal upon mutual agreement.
