Job Overview:
As a Senior Project Manager at CERN, you will play a pivotal role in leading the design and potential construction of innovative underground and surface civil engineering projects. This position involves managing high-value contracts and small teams of skilled engineers on technically complex projects. You will collaborate across various disciplines to deliver cutting-edge solutions, particularly in relation to the Future Circular Collider (FCC), a significant project aimed at advancing our understanding of particle physics. Your responsibilities will include overseeing the preliminary design and planning of extensive civil engineering works, defining requirements, and developing technical solutions for the FCC's infrastructure. You will also be responsible for preparing technical and contractual documentation, managing personnel, and ensuring that civil engineering milestones are met in coordination with CERN stakeholders. This role requires a proactive approach to project management and a commitment to delivering high-quality results.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Lead the preliminary design and planning of civil engineering works for the Future Circular Collider (FCC).
  • Define requirements and develop technical solutions for both surface and underground civil engineering infrastructure.
  • Manage the contractual framework for design and potential construction of the FCC, ensuring compliance with CERN standards.
  • Prepare and oversee technical and contractual documentation for major consultancy contracts related to detailed design and construction supervision.
  • Coordinate with CERN personnel contributing to FCC civil engineering efforts, ensuring effective collaboration and communication.
  • Interface with various stakeholders to achieve civil engineering milestones and report on progress at high management levels.
  • Prepare detailed cost estimates and schedules for civil engineering projects associated with the FCC.
  • Monitor project progress and take corrective actions as necessary to meet deadlines and quality standards.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Master's degree or equivalent relevant experience in civil engineering or a related field. Specific project management qualifications are advantageous. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in project and contract management within underground civil engineering, with a proven track record of managing complex, high-value civil engineering projects. Strong technical writing skills for documentation related to civil engineering works are essential.

Educational Background:
A Master's degree in civil engineering or a closely related field is required. Additional certifications or qualifications in project management would be beneficial and enhance a candidate's profile for this position.

Experience:
