The Community Centre for Integrated Development (CCID) is an organization dedicated to advancing the rights of communities, particularly focusing on women, girls, and young people in Cameroon. Established with the mission to empower individuals and groups to become change agents within their communities, CCID operates with the belief that the rights of these groups are essential for social, environmental, and economic growth. The organization aims to build resilient communities capable of advocating for their rights and working collaboratively with various stakeholders to promote community-driven development. CCID envisions an Africa where all women and girls can exercise their rights freely, and where young people have access to educational opportunities and resources to lead social change. The organization recognizes the importance of addressing issues such as sexual and reproductive health, gender-based violence, and mental health, particularly through digital platforms that resonate with the youth.

Job Overview:
The Digital Advocacy Volunteer position at CCID is designed to enhance the organization's digital presence, particularly on platforms like TikTok, Instagram Reels, Facebook Reels, and YouTube Shorts. The volunteer will play a crucial role in developing and implementing a 12-month advocacy strategy that utilizes short-form video content to engage young audiences in discussions about sexual and reproductive health and rights (SRHR), gender-based violence, and other critical social issues. The role involves creating relatable and accessible content that transforms sensitive topics into engaging narratives through storytelling, popular culture references, and youth-friendly messaging. The volunteer will be responsible for designing a structured content calendar, producing educational and advocacy-oriented videos, and fostering an informed online community committed to gender justice and SRHR. This position is pivotal in raising awareness, building CCID's digital audience, and driving social change through creative and culturally relevant content.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement a 12-month TikTok and short-form video advocacy strategy that aligns with CCID's mission and goals.

  • Design and manage a structured content calendar that includes original skits, voiceovers, captions, and community questions.
  • Collaborate with CCID staff and community members to gather stories and insights that inform content creation.
  • Monitor and analyze engagement metrics to assess the impact of the content and adjust strategies accordingly.
  • Ensure all content is ethical, survivor-centered, and culturally relevant, avoiding the reposting of copyrighted material.
  • Build and engage a community of followers on digital platforms, fostering discussions around gender justice and SRHR.
  • Contribute to CCID's positioning as a leading voice on gender and rights issues in Cameroon’s digital landscape.

Required Qualifications:
  • Strong understanding of digital advocacy and social media platforms, particularly TikTok and other short-form video formats.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to create compelling narratives.
  • Familiarity with issues related to gender equality, sexual and reproductive health, and community empowerment.
  • Creative mindset with the ability to produce engaging video content that resonates with young audiences.
  • Experience in content creation, video editing, and storytelling is highly desirable.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and engage with community members effectively.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Educational Background:
A background in communications, media studies, social sciences, or a related field is preferred. Candidates with relevant experience in digital content creation or advocacy work will also be considered favorably, regardless of formal educational qualifications.

Experience:
The position is open to individuals with varying levels of experience, including recent graduates, students, or those with prior volunteer experience in digital advocacy or community engagement. A passion for social change and a commitment to gender justice are essential.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, and proficiency in French is highly desirable given the bilingual context of Cameroon. Knowledge of local languages may also be beneficial for engaging with diverse communities.

Additional Notes:
This is a volunteer position with a commitment of 12 months. The role is full-time and may require flexibility in working hours to accommodate digital engagement activities. CCID is open to recruiting both nationally and internationally, and the volunteer will have the opportunity to work remotely or on-site as needed.
