Job Overview: The Programme Analyst position at UN Women in Sierra Leone is pivotal in managing and implementing programs related to women, peace, and security. The role involves providing substantive inputs to design" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">program design, implementation, and evaluation, ensuring that UN Women’s initiatives align with international commitments and frameworks such as UN Security Council Resolution 1325 and the Beijing Platform for Action. The Programme Analyst will work closely with various stakeholders, including government officials, civil society, and donors, to facilitate effective program delivery and enhance women's engagement in peace processes. This position requires a strong understanding of gender issues and the ability to monitor and report on program outcomes effectively.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Programme Analyst will be responsible for a range of duties including: contributing to the development of program strategies in women peace security and humanitarian action; providing technical support for program implementation and management; leading the coordination of proposals and monitoring partner submissions; training partners on Results Based Management; developing technical knowledge products; maintaining relationships with national partners; monitoring program progress and finances; drafting reports; providing inputs for resource mobilization strategies; supporting inter-agency coordination; and organizing advocacy campaigns and knowledge management efforts. The incumbent will also perform other duties as necessary for the efficient functioning of the office.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Master’s degree or equivalent in social sciences, human rights, gender/women's studies, international development, or a related field. A first-level university degree combined with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree. A project/programme management certification is considered an advantage. Candidates should demonstrate strong program formulation, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation skills, as well as the ability to analyze data and present findings effectively.
Educational Background: The educational requirement for this position includes a Master’s degree in relevant fields such as social sciences, human rights, gender studies, or international development. Alternatively, a first-level university degree with additional qualifying experience may be accepted. A project/programme management certification would enhance a candidate's profile.
Experience: At least 2 years of progressively responsible experience in development program/project implementation, coordination, monitoring, evaluation, and donor reporting is required. Experience working with civil society organizations and coordinating with government agencies or donors is desirable. Proficiency in using office software and web-based management systems is essential, with experience in modern ERP systems being an advantage.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of another official UN language such as French, Arabic, Chinese, Russian, or Spanish is desirable and would be beneficial for candidates.
Additional Notes: The position is full-time and involves working closely with various stakeholders to ensure the successful implementation of UN Women’s programs. The role may require participation in donor meetings and public information events.
