Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Shelter & Settlement Technical Officer include ensuring compliance with the organization's policies, guidelines, and standards, as well as the Shelter & Settlement strategy. The officer is responsible for the quality control and monitoring of project activities, development and maintenance of design and project documentation, and providing technical support and capacity building to project staff. Specific responsibilities include conducting humanitarian needs and structural assessments, proposing technical solutions for materials assistance, and preparing technical documentation such as work plans, technical specifications, and cost estimates. The officer will also supervise construction works, ensure quality of materials and workmanship, promote community participation, and provide support to municipalities and public bodies on project design and engineering. Additionally, the officer will track data for all interventions, prepare periodic progress reports, and assist the direct line manager with drafting reports and other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications: The position requires a minimum of 3 years of experience working as a engineer" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">civil engineer, with knowledge of Bill of Quantities (BoQ), norms, and standards of construction works. The candidate should have documented results related to the responsibilities of the position and experience in a humanitarian or recovery context. The candidate must possess excellent time management and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize a complex workload and work autonomously as needed.
Educational Background: A university degree in architecture or engineering is required, with a focus on civil, structural, electro-mechanical, hydrogeology, environmental, energy, or related fields. This educational background is critical for understanding the technical aspects of shelter and settlement projects and ensuring compliance with relevant standards and regulations.
Experience: Candidates should have at least 3 years of relevant experience in the field of civil engineering, particularly in a humanitarian or recovery context.
