Job Overview: The Programme Associate SRH will play a crucial role in supporting the UNFPA Country Office in Ethiopia by managing data inputs, providing logistical support, and monitoring project implementation. This position requires a proactive approach to facilitate the design, planning, and management of UNFPA’s country programme. The Programme Associate will be responsible for compiling and analyzing information relevant to the country programme, drafting project documents, and preparing statistical data. The role also involves evaluating project activities, conducting field visits, and participating in review meetings to ensure that the projects are on track and achieving their objectives. The Programme Associate will work closely with national counterparts and project personnel to guide the implementation of assigned projects and ensure compliance with established procedures.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Programme Associate will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including:
Participating in the formulation of the country programme and component projects by compiling and analyzing relevant information, drafting project documents, and preparing work plans.
Supporting the evaluation of project and programme activities, establishing assessment methods, and recommending corrective actions as necessary.
Conducting field visits and participating in review meetings and evaluation missions to provide inputs for status and progress reports.
Guiding the routine implementation of assigned projects in coordination with national counterparts and project personnel, ensuring the delivery of project inputs.
Providing logistical support for project-related meetings, workshops, and events.
Training and guiding project personnel on national execution and programme policies and procedures.
Assisting in organizing donor meetings and public information events, including preparing background materials.
Implementing knowledge management strategies to capture lessons learned and best practices for future planning.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must have completed Secondary Level Education, with a first-level university degree being desirable. Additionally, candidates should possess seven years of relevant experience in programme/project management. Proficiency in current office software applications and corporate IT systems is essential. Candidates should exemplify integrity, demonstrate commitment to UNFPA and the UN system, embrace cultural diversity, and be adaptable to change. Core competencies include achieving results, accountability, professional expertise, analytical thinking, teamwork, and effective communication.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes completed Secondary Level Education as a minimum requirement. A first-level university degree is considered an asset and may enhance the candidate's qualifications for the role.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of seven years of relevant experience in programme or project management. This experience should demonstrate the candidate's ability to manage complex projects, coordinate with various stakeholders, and ensure successful implementation of programme activities.
Languages: Fluency in English and Ukrainian is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of other official UN languages is considered an asset and may provide an advantage in the recruitment process.
