Job Overview:
The internship-position" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">internship position is located within the General Assembly and ECOSOC Affairs Division (GAEAD) of the United Nations Department for General Assembly and Conference Management (DGACM) in New York. The GAEAD is responsible for providing procedural and technical support to the General Assembly Plenary, four of its Main Committees (I-IV), and various subsidiary bodies. Additionally, it services the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) and its subsidiary bodies. Interns will engage in a variety of tasks that support the operational functions of the division, including assisting in the preparation of procedural notes for intergovernmental meetings, summarizing discussions, and supporting logistics during meetings. This role is designed to provide interns with a comprehensive understanding of the workings of the United Nations and the opportunity to contribute to its mission.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Interns will be tasked with a range of responsibilities that may include: assisting in the preparation of procedural notes for intergovernmental meetings; attending and summarizing intergovernmental meetings; assisting with logistics during meetings, including managing interactive presentations and virtual connections; conducting historical research and examining procedural precedents; performing media-based analysis and research; compiling statistics and designing charts, tables, and graphs; maintaining databases of meetings and assisting with data collection and analysis; contributing to the drafting and preparation of notes, talking points, and other briefing materials; updating and redesigning websites and links; and performing other related tasks as necessary to support the division's work.

Required Qualifications:
To qualify for the internship, applicants must meet specific criteria: they must be enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent), or be enrolled in a graduate school program (second university degree, equivalent or higher), or have completed university studies within the last year. Additionally, applicants must demonstrate proficiency in standard software applications, particularly Microsoft 365 Products and Google Docs Editors. A keen interest in the work of the United Nations and a commitment to its ideals are essential, as is the ability to interact successfully with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds. No prior work experience is required, but relevant training or skills that can benefit the United Nations during the internship are encouraged.

Educational Background:
Candidates must be enrolled in a university program at the time of application, specifically in their final year of a Bachelor's degree or in a graduate program. Alternatively, those who have completed their studies within the last year are also eligible to apply.
