Job Overview:
The Intern position at EBRD is designed to support the delivery, monitoring, and reporting of the EBRD Green Cities programme. This programme is crucial as it addresses climate and environmental challenges faced by cities through sustainable urban investments and policy reforms. The intern will play a vital role in tracking project pipelines, monitoring the implementation of frameworks, and contributing to impact reporting and knowledge products. The role requires a proactive approach to support various aspects of the programme, including data collection, analysis, and communication of findings to stakeholders. The intern will also engage in preparing materials for presentations and reports, ensuring that the Green Cities initiative is effectively communicated and its progress is documented.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will be responsible for several key duties including:
  • Supporting the tracking of the Green Cities project pipeline and portfolio by collecting and maintaining updates from internal project and country teams.
  • Maintaining and updating internal Green Cities monitoring tools, Excel trackers, and framework annexes to ensure accurate data management.
  • Contributing to annual monitoring and reporting of the Green Cities Framework, which includes data collection and analysis on projects and financial utilization.
  • Assisting with the tracking of the Green City Action Plan (GCAP) pipeline, including preparing templates, tracking city submissions, compiling data, and supporting basic analysis and visualization.
  • Supporting the compilation and analysis of Green Cities impact indicators, which include environmental and beneficiary metrics.
  • Providing inputs to institutional reporting products and assisting with donor reporting in coordination with relevant internal teams.
  • Supporting the preparation and updating of Green Cities materials, including presentations, briefing notes, and case studies.
  • Contributing to drafting periodic communications, including year-end summaries and programme updates.
  • Supporting Green Cities events and external engagements as needed, ensuring effective communication and representation of the programme.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates for the intern position should possess a degree in relevant fields such as Economics, Engineering, Environmental Studies, Urban Planning, International Development, Public Policy, Finance, or a related discipline. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate a strong interest in climate finance, sustainable urban development, or infrastructure policy. Previous internship experience or coursework related to data analysis, policy work, or development projects is considered advantageous. The ideal candidate should be comfortable operating in a multicultural environment and have a genuine interest in the mission of the EBRD.

Educational Background:
A degree in a relevant field is required for this position. This could include areas such as Economics, Engineering, Environmental Studies, Urban Planning, International Development, Public Policy, or Finance. The educational background should provide a solid foundation for understanding the complexities of climate finance and sustainable urban development.

Experience:
The position is suitable for candidates with an interest in climate finance and sustainable urban development. While previous internship experience is preferred, it is not mandatory. Candidates should ideally have around 2 years of work experience in a professional setting, which could include internships or relevant coursework that demonstrates their capability to engage with data analysis and policy work.

Languages:
Proficiency in English is mandatory for this position, as it is the primary language of communication within the organization.
