Job Overview:
The METAL Communications Officer is tasked with leading a focused initiative to enhance and unify communications, knowledge management, and learning within the METAL Unit, which encompasses Monitoring, Evaluation, Technology, Accountability, and Learning. This role is pivotal in developing a comprehensive communications strategy, redesigning the internal knowledge hub, and establishing a robust external presence that effectively showcases IRC's program-led data and technology initiatives. The position requires a blend of strategic communications leadership, content development, and coordination across a global organization, ensuring that the METAL Unit's work is well-communicated and accessible to staff, donors, and sector peers.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The METAL Communications Officer will undertake several key responsibilities, including: 1) Redesigning and restructuring the METAL internal RescueNet pages to create a clear and accessible knowledge hub, auditing existing content, and implementing a new information architecture. 2) Developing a unified METAL communications strategy by consolidating existing strategies, identifying gaps, and creating a messaging framework for diverse audiences. 3) Launching an external-facing webpage that highlights IRC's program-led technology and data approach, including auditing existing materials and producing new content. 4) Coordinating METAL's recurring meetings and facilitating communities of practice, ensuring effective documentation and follow-up actions. 5) Producing initial editions of communications products to build momentum and maintain internal distribution lists.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must demonstrate experience in leading internal communications strategies within complex, global organizations. A strong background in knowledge management, intranet redesign, and information architecture is essential. Excellent writing and editorial skills are required, with the ability to convey technical content in an engaging manner.
