Job Overview: The Coordinator for the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) Division at Human Rights Watch will play a crucial role in providing comprehensive administrative support to the division's staff, who are located in various regions. The Coordinator will be instrumental in facilitating the production of research and advocacy products, ensuring that the division operates smoothly and efficiently. This full-time position requires a commitment of 40 hours per week and is based in Beirut, within commuting distance of HRW's office.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Coordinator's responsibilities will encompass a wide range of administrative and project management tasks, including but not limited to:
Providing daily administrative support to MENA Division staff, which involves scheduling meetings, arranging travel, assisting with expense reports, managing divisional finances, preparing for meetings, taking minutes, and maintaining filing and archiving systems.
Facilitating communication between HRW offices, global staff, and external partners to ensure seamless collaboration.
Proofreading, formatting, and distributing various materials such as reports, news releases, and web content, while coordinating the publication process and translations.
Overseeing the internal review process for MENA Division publications.
Assisting in organizing events, including advocacy meetings, staff meetings, and fundraising functions.
Supporting advocacy efforts by scheduling meetings with partner organizations and managing contact databases.
Assisting in the recruitment and mentoring of interns and MENA Division staff.
Providing research and advocacy support to the Lebanon Researcher as capacity allows.
Traveling internationally for training or planning sessions as needed. 1

Performing additional tasks as required by the division.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a bachelor’s degree or equivalent working experience in fields such as international relations, human rights, law, journalism, or social sciences relevant to the position. A minimum of two years of relevant work experience is required, with previous administrative experience being advantageous. A background in human rights, law, political science, development, or journalism is strongly preferred. Candidates should demonstrate the ability to multi-task effectively, possess strong planning and organizational skills, and work well under pressure. Excellent interpersonal skills are essential for collaboration within HRW and with external partners. Attention to detail is critical, along with strong oral and written communication skills in both English and Arabic. Candidates should exhibit initiative, creativity, and strategic thinking, along with the ability to work independently and as part of a global team. Proficiency in MS Office applications and a commitment to human rights issues are also required.
