The UNDP office in Trinidad and Tobago also serves as a multi-country office, extending its responsibilities to Aruba, Curacao, and Sint Maarten. The organization is committed to fostering inclusive development and ensuring that all voices, especially those of young people, are heard in the development processes.

Job Overview:
The position involves supporting the graphic design and layout of the Youth Engagement Guidelines Report, which aims to provide institutions, civil society, and stakeholders with a comprehensive framework for engaging young people in development. The report is expected to be visually engaging and accessible, translating complex technical content into a user-friendly format. The volunteer will work under the guidance of the UNDP Trinidad and Tobago team, contributing to the design of a document that is approximately 120 to 140 pages long. This role is crucial in ensuring that the final product is not only informative but also appealing to a wide audience, including national, regional, and international stakeholders.

  • Reviewing and familiarizing themselves with the full content of the Youth Engagement Guidelines Report.
  • Proposing a visual concept and layout approach that aligns with UNDP branding standards.
  • Designing the entire report, which includes creating the cover page, section dividers, and overall page layout and typography.
  • Integrating images, graphics, icons, and other visual elements to enhance the report's readability and engagement.
  • Developing data visualizations, infographics, and visual summaries to complement text-heavy sections of the report.
  • Incorporating references and materials provided by UNDP, such as photos, branding guidelines, and sample reports.
  • Participating in a feedback and revision process with the UNDP team to ensure the design meets expectations.
  • Delivering a final, publication-ready version of the report in both print and digital formats.

Required Qualifications:
The ideal candidate should possess strong graphic design skills, with proficiency in design software such as Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop). They should have a good understanding of layout design, typography, and visual communication principles. Familiarity with UNDP branding guidelines is a plus. The candidate should also have the ability to work independently and collaboratively, demonstrating creativity and attention to detail in their work.

Educational Background:
A background in graphic design, visual communication, or a related field is preferred. Candidates should ideally have completed or be pursuing a degree in design or a similar discipline, which provides them with the necessary skills and knowledge to effectively contribute to the project.

Experience:
While prior experience in graphic design is beneficial, it is not strictly required. However, candidates should be able to demonstrate a portfolio of previous design work that showcases their skills and creativity. Experience in designing reports or similar documents will be considered an asset.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, as the report will be produced in English. Knowledge of additional languages may be considered an advantage, particularly if it enhances the ability to engage with diverse stakeholders.

Additional Notes:
This is a volunteer position, and the duration of the contract is not specified. The role is expected to be part-time, allowing flexibility in hours worked.
