Job Posting Organization:
The Office of the Special Envoy of the Secretary-General for Yemen (OSESGY) is a United Nations entity established to support peace efforts in Yemen. The organization focuses on facilitating dialogue and promoting inclusive participation in peace processes. OSESGY aims to enhance the involvement of various stakeholders, particularly marginalized groups, in decision-making processes that affect their lives. The office operates with a mission to foster stability and peace in Yemen through inclusive strategies and community engagement.

Job Overview:
The consultant will play a crucial role in enhancing the inclusion capacity of OSESGY by organizing in-person engagements and virtual meetings with women's groups, civil society, and local social leaders. The position is home-based and expected to last for two months. The consultant will provide on-demand support for various inclusion-related tasks, aligning with OSESGY's Inclusion Strategy. The role requires close collaboration with the Gender Affairs Officer to ensure that gender dimensions are integrated into youth-related consultations and engagements. The consultant will also be responsible for advising on best practices for consultations and identifying gaps in analysis regarding youth perspectives, thereby contributing to a holistic inclusion strategy for OSESGY.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The consultant's duties include providing advice on good practices and process design for consultations with youth and civil society groups, supporting gender dimensions in these engagements, and recommending effective digital platforms for civil society engagement. The consultant will also identify gaps in youth perspectives and support the commissioning of relevant inputs for OSESGY. Building relationships with women community leaders to enhance local peacebuilding efforts is essential, as is liaising with communities, civil society organizations (CSOs), and local governance structures in coordination with the Gender Affairs Officer. Additional tasks may be assigned as needed.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in development studies, social studies, International Relations, Human Rights Law, Gender Studies, or a related field. Alternatively, a first-level university degree combined with qualifying experience may be accepted. A minimum of 7 years of experience in national coordination support or mediation support work in peace and dialogue processes is required. Experience working in UN peace processes for Yemen is desirable, along with proven experience in integrating innovation into Women, Peace, and security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Security (WPS) initiatives.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes an advanced university degree in relevant fields such as development studies, social studies, International Relations, Human Rights Law, or Gender Studies. A first-level university degree may be accepted if accompanied by sufficient relevant experience, demonstrating the candidate's capability to fulfill the role's responsibilities effectively.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in national coordination support and/or mediation support work, particularly in peace and dialogue processes. Experience in UN peace processes specific to Yemen is highly desirable, indicating a familiarity with the unique challenges and dynamics of the region. Candidates should also have a track record of integrating innovative approaches into Women, Peace, and Security initiatives, showcasing their ability to adapt and implement effective strategies in complex environments.

Languages:
Fluency in English and Arabic, both oral and written, is mandatory for this consultancy. This bilingual proficiency is essential for effective communication with diverse stakeholders, including women's groups, civil society organizations, and local leaders, ensuring that the consultant can engage meaningfully in discussions and consultations.
