Job Overview:
The (Associate) Investment Officer position within the Manufacturing, Agribusiness and Services (MAS) team at IFC is a critical role that involves evaluating new investment opportunities and managing projects that contribute to sustainable private sector investment. The ideal candidate will possess strong investment skills, particularly in investment analysis and project management. This role requires the ability to build relationships with clients, oversee project milestones, and contribute to alleviating poverty and improving lives in emerging markets. The candidate will be responsible for conducting rigorous financial and investment analysis, structuring and executing transactions, and managing a portfolio of investments. The position offers a unique opportunity to engage with key stakeholders in both the private and public sectors, ensuring that investment opportunities align with IFC's mission and development goals.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The specific responsibilities of the (Associate) Investment Officer include: developing a thorough understanding of the relevant country and sectors; proactively identifying potential investment partners and opportunities; assessing the attractiveness of investment opportunities with a focus on credit quality and development impact; executing loan, equity, and mezzanine financing; conducting due diligence and structuring deals; managing environmental, social, technical, legal, and corporate governance risks; providing high-quality client service throughout the project cycle; supervising junior staff and ensuring quality of portfolio reporting; and engaging with client counterparts to understand their business directions and resolve issues as needed.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess at least a master’s degree or MBA in Finance or a related field. A minimum of 5 years of work experience in a major commercial or investment bank, international financial institution, or private equity firm is required. Experience in investment transactions, particularly in developing client relationships and managing complex portfolio assets, is essential. A strong track record in sourcing, negotiating, structuring, and closing quality investments across MAS sectors and financial products is highly desired. Candidates should also have experience in emerging markets and knowledge of international best practices and trends in the industry.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a master’s degree or MBA in Finance or a related field. This advanced education is crucial for understanding complex financial concepts and investment strategies necessary for the role.

Experience:
The position requires at least 5 years of relevant work experience, particularly in investment banking, private equity, or international financial institutions. Candidates should have a proven track record in investment transactions and managing client relationships, as well as experience in sourcing, negotiating, and structuring investments.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, with excellent verbal and written communication skills. Proficiency in Georgian and/or Russian is preferred and would be considered an asset, enhancing the candidate's ability to engage with local stakeholders and clients effectively.
