Job Overview:
The Programme Analyst position at UN Women in Sierra Leone is crucial for the effective management of programs aimed at enhancing women's engagement in peace and security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security. This role involves providing substantive inputs to the design, formulation, implementation, and evaluation of programs. The Programme Analyst will work closely with various stakeholders, including government officials, donors, and civil society, to ensure successful program implementation. The position requires a strong focus on monitoring results achieved during implementation and ensuring the appropriate application of systems and procedures. The Programme Analyst will also contribute to the development of program strategies in the area of women, peace, security, and humanitarian action, providing technical support and capacity development to project partners, and ensuring alignment with international commitments to women's rights.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Contribute technically to the development of program strategies in the area of women, peace, security, and humanitarian action.
  • Provide substantive inputs to the design and formulation of program/project proposals and initiatives, identifying areas for support and intervention.
  • Provide technical support to the implementation and management of the women peace security program, including leading the implementation of program activities and coordinating calls for proposals.
  • Monitor progress of implementation using results-based management tools, drafting reports on program results and outcomes.
  • Provide technical assistance and capacity development to project/program partners, maintaining relationships with national partners.
  • Monitor budget implementation and provide inputs to financial reports.
  • Contribute to resource mobilization strategies and prepare relevant documentation for donor meetings.
  • Support inter-agency coordination on women peace security to ensure coherence with other partners.
  • Develop advocacy materials and coordinate knowledge management efforts related to women peace security. 1
  • Perform other duties as necessary for the efficient functioning of the office.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a strong understanding of program formulation, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation skills. They should have good knowledge of results-based management and the ability to gather and interpret data effectively. Analytical skills are essential, along with a solid understanding of the technical area in women peace security and gender mainstreaming. Candidates should also be able to identify trends and opportunities for fundraising.

Educational Background:
A Master’s degree or equivalent in social sciences, human rights, gender/women's studies, international development, or a related field is required. Alternatively, a first-level university degree combined with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree. A project/program management certification would be an added advantage.

Experience:
At least 2 years of progressively responsible work experience in development program/project implementation, coordination, monitoring, evaluation, donor reporting, and capacity building is required. Experience working with civil society organizations and coordinating with government agencies or donors is desirable. Proficiency in using computers and office software packages, as well as experience with web-based management systems, is necessary. Familiarity with modern web-based ERP systems, preferably Oracle Cloud, is also desirable.

Languages:
Fluency in English is required for this position. Knowledge of another official UN language, such as French, Arabic, Chinese, Russian, or Spanish, is considered desirable.
