The office is located in Putrajaya, Malaysia, and plays a crucial role in supporting countries in their development efforts.

Job Overview:
The Driver position within the UN Resident Coordinator Office in Kuala Lumpur is a vital role that involves providing safe and reliable transportation for the UN Resident Coordinator and authorized personnel. The incumbent is expected to maintain strict confidentiality and adhere to all security and safety protocols while performing driving duties. Flexibility in working hours is essential, as the role may require after-hours work, weekends, and official travel. The Driver will also be responsible for making deliveries of documents and parcels between the UN office and various government ministries, embassies, and development partners. Additionally, the position includes minor purchasing tasks and ensuring the proper maintenance of the assigned vehicle, including logging official trips and ensuring compliance with safety regulations. The role may also involve assisting with data collection and analysis, as well as updating information materials for communication purposes.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Driver will perform a range of duties, including but not limited to: safely driving the UN Resident Coordinator and authorized personnel; maintaining confidentiality and adhering to security protocols; demonstrating flexibility in working hours; making deliveries of documents and parcels; making minor purchases and collecting urgent items from local suppliers; facilitating immigration and customs formalities at the airport; maintaining the assigned vehicle, including performing minor repairs; logging official trips and vehicle maintenance; ensuring compliance with regulations in case of accidents; assisting with data collection and analysis; and performing other duties as assigned by the Head of Office or UN Resident Coordinator.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a valid National Driver License and have a clean driving record. A defensive driving certificate is desirable. Knowledge of driving rules and regulations, as well as familiarity with the local area and road conditions, is essential. The candidate should demonstrate professionalism, accountability, and client orientation in their work. They should also be able to handle stressful situations calmly and effectively, showing persistence in overcoming challenges.

Educational Background:
Completion of a High School diploma or equivalent is required for this position. This educational background ensures that candidates have the necessary foundational knowledge and skills to perform the duties associated with the role effectively.

Experience:
A minimum of two years of continuous driving experience with a safe driving record is required. Candidates should have experience driving various types of vehicles, including vans and other motorized vehicles. Experience working with senior diplomatic officials is desirable, as is experience with the United Nations or similar international organizations.

Languages:
For this position, proficiency in English is required, with a minimum level of proficiency according to the UN Language Framework. Additionally, either Bahasa or Malay is required, with similar proficiency levels expected. This linguistic capability is essential for effective communication within the UN and with local stakeholders.
