Job Overview:
The Partnerships Consultant will be situated within the Public Partnerships Section of UN Women, which is dedicated to strengthening the organization's position as a partner of choice for gender equality and women's empowerment among governments and inter-governmental actors worldwide. The consultant will work under the supervision of the Partnerships and Resource Mobilization Specialist, coordinating external relations and providing technical inputs and support for the partnership portfolio of assigned countries. The role involves maintaining knowledge of partners and stakeholders, promoting cooperation with UN Women, and supporting resource mobilization efforts. The consultant will also be responsible for preparing briefing materials for donor engagements, collaborating with various teams to identify partnership opportunities, and analyzing donor engagement data to inform resource mobilization strategies.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Partnerships Consultant will have a range of responsibilities, including:
  • Providing technical and coordination support on external relationship management for an assigned funding partner portfolio.
  • Implementing work plans to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of results aligned with UN Women’s Strategic Plan 2026-202
  • Developing and maintaining knowledge of partners and stakeholders, including global trends in development cooperation.
  • Maintaining contacts with officials from missions to the UN and funding governments to advocate for cooperation with UN Women.
  • Seeking and promoting new partnerships and resource mobilization opportunities.
  • Preparing draft briefing materials, including talking points and meeting summaries for donor engagements.
  • Collaborating with communication and program teams to support the identification and development of partnership opportunities.
  • Analyzing donor engagement data and funding trends to identify insights for resource mobilization.
  • Participating in internal meetings and providing updates as required. 1
  • Supporting other partnerships and resource mobilization needs of the Public Partnerships Section as necessary.

Required Qualifications:
The position requires an advanced university degree (Master’s or higher) in fields such as international relations, political science, communications, international development, business/public administration, women's studies, or a relevant technical field. Alternatively, a first-level university degree combined with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree. Candidates must demonstrate a strong understanding of UN Women’s mandate and possess the ability to interact effectively with government representatives and stakeholders.

Educational Background:
Candidates must hold an advanced university degree (Master’s or higher) in relevant fields such as international relations, political science, communications, international development, business/public administration, or women's studies. A first-level university degree with additional qualifying experience may also be considered.

Experience:
A minimum of two years of relevant professional experience in areas such as public affairs, program management, resource mobilization, external relations, or business development is required. Experience working with international institutions or government partners is essential, and familiarity with statistical software and data visualization is considered an asset. Experience in gender equality and women's empowerment, as well as working within the UN system, is also advantageous.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of any other UN official language is considered an asset, enhancing the candidate's ability to engage with diverse stakeholders.

This consultancy is office-based, requiring full-time presence at UN Women premises in New York. No official travel is expected as part of this consultancy.
