Job Overview: The National Consultant for Inclusive Business Landscape Study will play a crucial role in assessing and promoting inclusive business models in Brunei Darussalam. This position involves collaborating with an international consultant to design and implement a comprehensive study that evaluates the current state of inclusive businesses and social enterprises in the country. The consultant will be responsible for conducting interviews, gathering data, and analyzing the enabling environment for inclusive business. The role requires a deep understanding of Brunei's economic landscape and the ability to engage with various stakeholders, including government agencies, private sector representatives, and civil society organizations. The consultant will also support the dissemination of study results and advocate for the uptake of recommendations to enhance inclusive business practices in the region.
Duties and Responsibilities: The consultant's duties and responsibilities include:
Collaborating with the international consultant to define specific roles and responsibilities for the study.
Familiarizing themselves with the concept of inclusive business and the methodologies to be used in the study.
Organizing and conducting interviews with businesses and stakeholders to gather necessary data, leveraging a strong local network.
Participating in three missions to Brunei Darussalam for information gathering, stakeholder workshops, and report launch.
Collecting and analyzing data for the report, including policy analysis and market assessments.
Identifying and profiling inclusive business models, conducting interviews, and rating companies based on agreed methodologies.
Assessing the enabling environment for inclusive business, including government policies and private sector roles.
Identifying opportunities for promoting inclusive business models.
Contributing to a high-quality landscape study based on ESCAP guidelines. 1
Supporting the dissemination of study results through presentations and stakeholder engagement.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess an advanced university degree in Economics, International Development, Management, Public Policy, Innovation Policy, or a related field. Those with other degrees may be considered if they have two additional years of relevant work experience. A minimum of seven years of progressively responsible experience in promoting social and economic development through research, policy formulation, and analysis is required. Experience in promoting private sector development in Brunei Darussalam is desirable, as it will enhance the consultant's ability to navigate the local context and engage effectively with stakeholders.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes an advanced university degree in relevant fields such as Economics, International Development, Management, Public Policy, or Innovation Policy. Candidates with other degrees may still be considered if they can demonstrate two additional years of relevant work experience. This educational foundation is essential for understanding the complexities of inclusive business and the socio-economic landscape of Brunei Darussalam.
