Job Overview: The internship program at the IAEA is designed to provide students and recent graduates with practical work experience that aligns with their academic studies and interests. Duties and Responsibilities: Interns will be involved in a variety of tasks depending on their profile, including: supporting analytical work on the inclusion of nuclear energy in carbon market mechanisms; contributing to research on Article 6 of the Paris Agreement; assisting in reviewing sustainable finance taxonomies; monitoring regulatory and policy developments related to low-carbon financing instruments; preparing background notes, presentations, and technical summaries; organizing workshops and expert dialogues; and providing general analytical and administrative support to initiatives on sustainable finance and nuclear energy's role in the energy transition.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a university degree in relevant fields such as law, finance, environment, social sciences, policy, international relations, or economics. Experience in Nuclear Energy System Assessment Methods, Economic Analysis, or Modelling and Analysis is considered an asset. Applicants must be at least 20 years old and have completed three years of full-time studies towards their first degree. They may apply within one year of completing their degree and must not have previously participated in the IAEA's internship program.
Educational Background: A minimum of three years of full-time university studies is required, leading towards a bachelor's, master's, or doctorate degree in relevant fields. Candidates must demonstrate a strong academic background that aligns with the responsibilities of the internship.
Experience: While specific prior experience is not mandatory, any background in nuclear energy systems, finance, or related fields will be advantageous. The internship is particularly suited for candidates who have engaged in academic or practical work related to energy systems, policy analysis, or environmental studies.
Languages: Good written and spoken English is essential for this position. Fluency in any other IAEA official language, such as Arabic, Chinese, French, Spanish, or Russian, is considered an asset and may enhance the candidate's application.
Additional Notes: The internship duration is set for six months, providing a structured opportunity for interns to immerse themselves in the IAEA's work. This position is part-time and may involve flexible working hours to accommodate the intern's academic commitments.
