Job Description
Job Posting Organization:
Camara Education is an organization dedicated to improving educational outcomes for underserved communities through technology-enabled solutions. Established with the mission to enhance access to quality education, Camara operates in various countries, focusing on providing digital learning tools that support both students and teachers. The organization emphasizes inclusive education and aims to bridge the digital divide by deploying innovative educational technologies. Camara has developed several initiatives, including the Camara AI Assistant, which is designed to facilitate classroom instruction and independent learning. The organization is committed to evidence-based decision-making and accountability, striving to create impactful educational environments through its various programs.

Job Overview:
The position involves collaborating as part of a team of Online Volunteers to develop a Digital Learning Analytics and Device Activity Tracking Platform. This platform is intended to function effectively in low-connectivity environments, allowing for the aggregation and analysis of learning engagement data generated by Camara's digital learning tools. Volunteers will work remotely under the supervision of the Digital Learning & AI Lead, focusing on creating a structured, privacy-conscious analytics system that supports exportable reporting. The role is task-based and time-bound, requiring volunteers to engage in collaborative development through platforms like GitHub, email, and shared documents. The project aims to enhance the monitoring of learning engagement and improve program reporting to stakeholders.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties of the Online Volunteers include developing backend APIs for data ingestion, designing and implementing database schemas, and ensuring data validation and transformation logic is in place. Volunteers will also be responsible for building a web-based dashboard interface that includes interactive charts and analytics, ensuring mobile responsiveness, and designing a user-friendly UI. Additionally, they will integrate AI models for educational insights and recommendations, optimize these models for offline use, and develop a lightweight Android tracking module for app usage. The work will be divided into four main technical components: Backend & Data Engineering, Frontend & Dashboard Development, AI & Learning Analytics Integration, and Platform & Device Integration. Each volunteer will focus on their area of expertise while collaborating closely with others to ensure cohesive outputs.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates should possess complementary technical skills relevant to the development of the Digital Learning Analytics Platform. This includes proficiency in backend development (e.g., FastAPI), database design, frontend technologies (HTML, JavaScript), and experience with AI integration. Volunteers should also have a strong understanding of data engineering principles and be able to work collaboratively in a remote environment. Familiarity with version control systems like GitHub is essential, as is the ability to communicate effectively with team members and stakeholders.

Educational Background:
A background in computer science, software engineering, data science, or a related field is preferred. Candidates should have a solid understanding of programming languages and frameworks relevant to the tasks outlined in the job description. Educational qualifications may vary, but a degree or equivalent experience in a technical discipline is advantageous.

Experience:
Volunteers are expected to have prior experience in software development, particularly in building web applications and working with databases. Experience in developing analytics platforms or educational technology solutions is highly desirable. Familiarity with low-connectivity environments and the challenges associated with them will be beneficial for this role.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, as all communications and documentation will be conducted in this language. Knowledge of additional languages may be considered an asset, particularly if it pertains to the regions where Camara operates.

Additional Notes:
This is a fully remote position, allowing volunteers to work from anywhere. The assignment is task-based and time-bound, with an expected start date as soon as possible following the completion of onboarding requirements. Volunteers will collaborate virtually and receive guidance from the supervising team throughout the project. The role is suitable for individuals looking to contribute to meaningful educational initiatives while gaining experience in a collaborative, tech-driven environment.
