Job Overview: The consultant will provide essential technical and administrative support to implement the 'Strengthening of Korea-WHO collaboration' program under the Community Health Project Fund (CHPF). This role is crucial in managing the Korean Voluntary Contributions (KVC) and ensuring effective communication between WHO and the Government of the Republic of Korea. The consultant will work closely with various stakeholders to facilitate the implementation of the Republic of Korea-WHO Country Cooperation Strategy (CCS) for 2026-2030, which outlines a roadmap for collaboration over the next five years. The consultant will be responsible for coordinating donor meetings, planning workshops, and evaluating the CCS, thereby playing a pivotal role in enhancing the partnership between WHO and Korea.
Duties and Responsibilities: The consultant's duties will include:
Supporting the management of KVC funds by preparing interim reports and coordinating with relevant divisions and donors.
Monitoring the programmatic and financial progress of KVC and other VC-funded awards, identifying risks and implementation bottlenecks.
Planning and supporting donor meetings, including arranging field trips to country offices.
Organizing a Go WHO workshop in Korea, collaborating with co-host organizations and internal counterparts.
Liaising between WHO/WPRO and the Republic of Korea, facilitating visits and bilateral meetings, and ensuring alignment with WHO policies.
Mobilizing resources by communicating with various organizations to secure funding and support for initiatives.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a university degree in public health, social science, or a related field. A master's degree or higher is desirable. Essential qualifications include at least five years of experience in public health, clinical health, or health research, with some experience in an international context. Candidates should have experience in project management, coordination, and planning. Knowledge of WHO/WPRO protocols regarding administrative work is advantageous, and prior experience working with WHO/WPRO is ideal.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a university degree in public health, social science, or other relevant areas. A master's degree or higher in these fields is preferred, as it demonstrates a deeper understanding of public health issues and project management.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of five years of relevant experience in public health, clinical health, or health research. Candidates should have experience in project management and coordination, ideally within an international context. Familiarity with WHO protocols and prior experience working with WHO/WPRO will be considered an asset.
Languages: Expert knowledge of spoken and written English is essential for this position. Knowledge of spoken and written Korean is highly desirable, as it will facilitate communication with Korean stakeholders. Working knowledge of other UN languages is considered an advantage, enhancing the consultant's ability to engage with diverse international partners.
Additional Notes: This consultancy is an onsite position based at the WHO-WPRO office in Manila, Philippines, for a duration of 11 months. The remuneration is set at USD 7,000 per month, with additional living expenses of USD 2,100 per month. The position may require duty travel based on project needs. Candidates should be aware that WHO has a smoke-free environment and does not recruit smokers or tobacco users.
