Job Overview:
The WASH Associate will be responsible for overseeing and managing construction activities related to water spreading weirs and agricultural water infrastructure. This role involves ensuring the timely completion of infrastructure projects, providing quality assurance and control, and monitoring contractor performance. The WASH Associate will also assist in engineering calculations, prepare detailed reports, and coordinate with various stakeholders, including local authorities and partners, to ensure the successful implementation of projects aimed at improving water access and agricultural productivity for refugees and host communities.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The WASH Associate will perform a variety of duties, including: overseeing all construction activities for water spreading weirs and agricultural water infrastructure; assisting in engineering calculations and producing detailed drawings; ensuring timely completion of infrastructure activities; monitoring contractor performance and attending progress meetings; assisting with the production of RFPs, RFQs, and BOQs; reviewing construction design documents; coordinating with local authorities and partners; preparing reports and contributing to proposal development; and performing other relevant duties as required. The role requires a proactive approach to project management and collaboration with various stakeholders to achieve project goals.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree in Rural Engineering, Hydro-Agricultural Development, Civil Engineering, or Water Resource Management. They should have 3-5 years of relevant experience in water and sanitation project management, particularly in hydro-agricultural development projects. Proven experience in constructing water infrastructures, especially water spreading weirs and irrigated perimeters, is essential. Candidates should also demonstrate strong technical knowledge, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently in challenging environments.

Educational Background:
A minimum of a Bachelor's degree is required, with a focus on fields such as Rural Engineering, Hydro-Agricultural Development, Civil Engineering, or Water Resource Management. This educational background is crucial for understanding the technical aspects of the projects and ensuring effective implementation of water and sanitation initiatives.

Experience:
Candidates should have 3-5 years of experience in relevant fields, particularly in managing water and sanitation projects. Experience in hydro-agricultural development projects is highly desirable, along with a proven track record in the construction of water infrastructures. Familiarity with project management throughout the project lifecycle, including planning, implementation, and evaluation, is also necessary.

Languages:
Fluency in written and spoken French is mandatory, while a working knowledge of English is considered an asset. Proficiency in these languages is important for effective communication with stakeholders and for the preparation of reports and documentation.
