Job Overview:
The intern position within the Finance Branch (FIN) of ICAO is designed to provide practical exposure to budget management and financial procedures in an international context. The intern will support the Regular Budget Unit by engaging in various tasks that contribute to the redesign and automation of financial processes. This role is crucial for individuals looking to gain hands-on experience in financial management within a global organization. The intern will be involved in analytical work, process documentation, and system improvement projects, which are essential for the effective functioning of the Finance Branch. The position offers a unique opportunity to learn about the financial operations of an international organization and to contribute to significant projects that enhance financial efficiency.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will be responsible for a variety of tasks under the guidance of the Chief of the Financial Services Section and the Head of the Regular Budget Unit. Key responsibilities include:
  • Participating in the redesign of the Allotment Transfer Process project, ensuring that the process is automated and effectively deployed.
  • Assisting in the overall design and documentation of Regular Budget processes, ensuring comprehensive mapping and documentation.
  • Engaging in the definition, design, and testing of financial reports and dashboards, ensuring they are user-friendly and accessible to end users.
  • Liaising with budget focal points to address and resolve any issues that arise, coordinating with relevant stakeholders to ensure effective communication and problem-solving.
  • Supporting the preparation of analytical data and reports, ensuring they are accurate and delivered in a timely manner. These duties will provide the intern with a well-rounded experience in financial operations and budget management.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a strong foundation in finance, business administration, or accounting. Essential qualifications include:
  • Enrollment in or completion of a degree program related to Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and communicate effectively with various stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in using financial software and tools is an asset.
  • A proactive approach to problem-solving and process improvement.

Educational Background:
Candidates are required to have completed or be currently enrolled in a degree program related to Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or a similar field. This educational background is essential to ensure that the intern has the necessary theoretical knowledge to support the financial operations of ICAO effectively.

Experience:
While prior professional experience is not mandatory, any relevant internships or academic projects related to finance or accounting will be considered an asset. The ideal candidate should demonstrate a keen interest in financial management and a willingness to learn and adapt in a dynamic international environment.

Languages:
Fluency in English is essential, with strong reading, writing, and speaking abilities required for effective communication. Additionally, a working knowledge of a second language of the Organization, such as Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish, is desirable and will enhance the candidate's profile.

Additional Notes:
The internship is a full-time position, requiring the intern to work five days a week. The duration of the internship ranges from three to twelve months, with a maximum limit of twelve months. Interns will receive a stipend; however, they are responsible for all costs related to travel, insurance, accommodation, and living expenses. It is important to note that interns are not permitted to engage in any other form of employment within ICAO during their internship period. Interns are expected to carry out their assigned duties with loyalty, discretion, and professionalism, adhering to the official instructions provided by the Organization.
