Job Overview: The Associate Social Media Consultant will work under the guidance of the Digital Communications and Social Media Officer within the Communications Division. The primary function of this role is to contribute to the development of a comprehensive social media strategy for various corporate, partner, and high-level official accounts. The consultant will be responsible for continuously monitoring the social media landscape, identifying engagement opportunities, and generating innovative ideas to enhance interaction with audiences. This position requires the consultant to support management in analyzing the performance of UNRWA's social media platforms, including Twitter/X, Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, and YouTube. The consultant will also be tasked with producing engaging content and evaluating the effectiveness of social media initiatives.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Associate Social Media Consultant include:
Collaborating with the Digital Communications and Social Media Officer to create editorial content such as stories, photos, advocacy images, contests, campaigns, audio, video, and infographics.
Maintaining a social media calendar and content plans that outline themes and schedules for upcoming coverage.
Assisting in the creation of original multimedia materials for dissemination across UNRWA's website and social media channels.
Conducting regular assessments of media and social media to measure the impact of UNRWA's digital communications efforts.
Drafting posts for various accounts and preparing engaging social media packages for international days, specific events, and other occasions, targeting diverse audiences, including donors.
Coordinating the development of creative audio-visual content for social media, working with graphic designers, multimedia specialists, and external providers.
Developing communication materials aimed at donors, highlighting UNRWA's partnerships with key institutional donors.
Coordinating social media content and messages with partner organizations.
Monitoring and analyzing social media user data to propose necessary adjustments. 1
Performing other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Required Qualifications: The required qualifications for this position include:
A bachelor’s degree from an accredited educational institution, preferably in communications, marketing, graphic design, videography, or a related field.
A minimum of four years of relevant work experience, including at least two continuous years of international experience outside of UNRWA and the candidate's country of citizenship.
Proven experience in video editing and content creation specifically for social media platforms is essential.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess a bachelor’s degree from an accredited educational institute. The degree should preferably be in communications, marketing, graphic design, videography, or a related discipline, which provides a solid foundation for the responsibilities associated with this consultancy role.
Experience: The position requires at least four years of relevant work experience. This includes a minimum of two continuous years of international experience that must be outside of UNRWA and the candidate's country of citizenship. This level of experience is crucial to ensure that the consultant is well-versed in the dynamics of international communications and social media strategies.
Languages: An excellent command of spoken and written English is mandatory for this position. Additionally, proficiency in Arabic is considered desirable, as it will enhance communication with diverse audiences and stakeholders.
Additional Notes: The consultancy is expected to start as soon as possible and has a duration of six months, with the possibility of extension based on performance and organizational needs. The consultancy is equivalent to a P2 level position, with a daily rate of $22
