Job Overview: The EU Partnership Assistant will be an integral part of the Partnerships and Policy Department at NRC, which is responsible for managing strategic relationships with institutional donors and private foundations. This role involves supporting various departments and regional offices in resource mobilization efforts, developing global strategies, and streamlining procedures related to grant management. The assistant will work closely with Senior EU Partnership Advisers and the EU Partnership and Compliance Coordinator to analyze EU development funding allocations, update training modules, and coordinate responses to surveys. The position requires a proactive approach to assist in organizing strategic meetings and providing administrative support as needed.
Duties and Responsibilities: The EU Partnership Assistant will have a diverse set of responsibilities, including:
Assisting in the development of analyses on EU development funding allocations for prioritized countries, based on guidance from Senior EU Partnership Advisors.
Updating donor engagement training modules to reflect the latest priorities of EU development donors.
Conducting analyses on the evolution of Global Gateway and supporting thematic leads on donor engagement at the EU level.
Coordinating NRC's inputs to VOICE and DG ECHO surveys, ensuring quality and validation of inputs.
Attending relevant internal and external meetings, drafting minutes, and sharing them with the team.
Arranging meetings in Brussels and European capitals for field-based colleagues, including research on EU policies and drafting briefing notes.
Supporting internal prioritization processes for accessing EU funding.
Providing ad-hoc administrative support, including organizing trips, trainings, and events.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a university degree in a relevant field such as Law, International Relations, or European Affairs, or have equivalent experience. Fluency in English is mandatory, and knowledge of other EU languages, particularly French and Dutch, is considered an asset. Candidates should demonstrate strong analytical and administrative skills, proficiency in MS Office applications, and a good understanding of EU institutions and donors. An interest in refugee and humanitarian issues, along with excellent oral and written communication skills, is essential. Organizational skills, the ability to multitask, and a commitment to humanitarian principles are also required.
Educational Background: A university degree in a relevant field such as Law, International Relations, European Affairs, or a related discipline is required for this position. Equivalent experience may also be considered, but a formal educational background in these areas is preferred to ensure a solid understanding of the complexities involved in EU partnerships and humanitarian work.
Experience: The position requires candidates to have relevant experience in a similar role or field, particularly in working with EU institutions or in the humanitarian sector. Experience in donor engagement, resource mobilization, or grant management will be highly beneficial. Candidates should demonstrate a capacity for analytical thinking and the ability to work effectively in a multicultural environment, ideally with prior exposure to NGO operations or humanitarian contexts.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory for this role. Knowledge of additional EU languages, especially French and Dutch, is considered advantageous and may enhance the candidate's ability to engage with a broader range of stakeholders within the EU framework.

The contract is for a duration of 6 months under the Belgian Professional Immersion Contract (CIP). The salary for this position is set at 1200 Euros per month, with additional benefits including lunch vouchers, a transportation allowance, and three extra-legal holidays.
