Job Overview:
The Associate Software Engineer - AI Solutions position at the World Bank Group is a pivotal role aimed at integrating advanced Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) capabilities into the corporate portfolio. This position is designed for individuals who are passionate about digital transformation and are eager to lead the AI-first redesign of corporate workflows. The role involves not only the modernization of legacy systems but also the development of innovative AI solutions that address complex business challenges across various departments, including HR, Legal, and Corporate Secretariat. The successful candidate will be responsible for conducting in-depth research within the AI/ML landscape, proposing innovative solutions, and spearheading the implementation of generative AI use cases that optimize workflows and enhance operational efficiency. This role requires a blend of technical expertise, strategic thinking, and the ability to collaborate with diverse teams to drive impactful change within the organization.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• AI-First Redesign & Strategic Enterprise Development: Lead the transformation of corporate operations by reimagining legacy processes and user experiences to prioritize AI integration. Collaborate with business leaders to identify automation opportunities and develop scalable AI-native solutions. Engineer autonomous AI agents to streamline complex workflows across departments.
• System Modernization & Seamless Integration: Drive the modernization of corporate IT infrastructure, reducing technical debt and transitioning to cloud-native environments. Ensure interoperability of AI models with existing systems to facilitate real-time data flow and enhance operational capabilities.
• Quality Assurance, Risk Management & Governance: Establish rigorous validation protocols for AI-generated documents to ensure accuracy and compliance with ethical standards and data privacy regulations. Act as a steward for AI governance within the organization.
• Change Management & Enterprise Adoption: Promote AI literacy across business units, develop training programs, and foster a culture of continuous digital improvement to maximize the utility of AI tools.
• Value Realization & Strategic Innovation: Monitor and report on the performance of AI solutions, translating technical metrics into measurable business value. Continuously evaluate emerging AI trends to recommend platform upgrades that maintain the organization's competitive edge.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Master’s degree with at least 5 years of relevant experience or a Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 7 years of experience in a related field. An equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered. The ideal candidate should demonstrate proficiency in full-stack development, AI and machine learning engineering, and agile methodologies. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are essential, along with the ability to mentor junior engineers and foster a collaborative team environment.

Educational Background:
A Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is required, along with relevant certifications in AI and machine learning. A Bachelor’s degree may be acceptable if accompanied by significant professional experience in software engineering and AI solutions.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 5 years of experience in software development and AI solutions for candidates with a Master’s degree, or at least 7 years for those with a Bachelor’s degree. Experience should include full-stack development, cloud deployment architectures, and the implementation of AI and machine learning projects.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset but is not required.
