Job Overview:
The Driver position at UNHCR involves not only driving official vehicles but also maintaining and ensuring the upkeep of the assigned vehicles according to the technical guidance and specifications set by the organization. The incumbent will be supervised by the Administrative Officer or another designated staff member. The role requires adherence to strict security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security instructions and guidance provided by the supervisor. The driver will have regular interactions with UNHCR staff and external partners, including government authorities, which necessitates a limited exchange of information. The position is crucial for the smooth operation of the UNHCR office, as it supports the transportation of authorized personnel and the delivery and collection of important documents and items. The driver is expected to log official trips and maintain records of vehicle usage, ensuring compliance with safety and operational standards.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The primary duties of the Driver include: driving UNHCR vehicles for the transport of authorized passengers, delivering and collecting documents and other items; meeting official personnel at airports or other locations and facilitating immigration and customs formalities; performing daily maintenance checks on the assigned vehicles, including oil, water, battery, brakes, and tires; ensuring that vehicles are roadworthy and maintained according to security standards; performing minor repairs and arranging for major repairs as needed; keeping the vehicle clean; logging official trips, daily mileage, gas consumption, and maintenance records; following all instructions and security guidance from the supervisor; ensuring valid documentation for passengers and cargo; supporting risk management and decision-making processes; and performing other related duties as required.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a valid driving license and have knowledge of driving rules and regulations. Essential qualifications include a minimum of two years of relevant experience and completion of primary education or a high school diploma. Candidates should demonstrate basic vehicle mechanical skills and a commitment to safety and security protocols. Desirable qualifications include experience in international organizations or high-level companies, as well as certifications in safe driving or road safety.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes at least completion of primary education or a high school diploma. Candidates must also hold a valid driving license appropriate for the vehicle class they will be operating.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of two years of relevant driving experience. Candidates should have a proven track record of safe driving and familiarity with the local traffic laws and regulations. Experience in vehicle maintenance and basic mechanical skills is also essential.

Languages:
Knowledge of English and the UN working language of the duty station is mandatory. For General Service jobs, proficiency in English and/or the UN working language is required, along with knowledge of the local language being advantageous.
