Job Overview:
The position involves supporting the coordination and implementation of projects related to culture and science at the UNESCO Antenna Office in Sarajevo. The incumbent will work under the supervision of the Director of the UNESCO Regional Bureau for Science and Culture in Europe and the Head of the Sarajevo Antenna. The role focuses on enhancing youth engagement in peacebuilding and reconciliation efforts in Bosnia and Herzegovina and the surrounding region. The incumbent will be responsible for managing various projects aimed at fostering mutual understanding among youth, enhancing citizens' trust in institutions, and promoting disaster risk reduction for sustainable development.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The incumbent will coordinate and manage the implementation of UNESCO's peacebuilding and youth-related projects in Bosnia and Herzegovina and potentially other member states. Key responsibilities include:
  • Supporting the development and management of projects aimed at strengthening youth roles in promoting mutual understanding and dialogue.
  • Ensuring timely and effective management of project activities in accordance with approved work plans and budgets.
  • Preparing for project review meetings and participating in discussions related to the projects.
  • Facilitating effective communication and visibility of project results, including preparing public information products and outreach materials.
  • Actively participating in national and international conferences and workshops related to the projects.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree (Masters or equivalent) in cultural studies, media studies, management, international relations, communication, or related fields. Alternatively, a university degree (BA) combined with a minimum of four years of relevant experience is acceptable. Candidates should have a strong understanding of the culture sector and cultural cooperation in South-East Europe, particularly in Bosnia and Herzegovina, along with demonstrated experience in project development and management.

Educational Background:
An advanced university degree (Masters or equivalent) in relevant fields such as cultural studies, media studies, management, international relations, communication, or social and human sciences is required. A bachelor's degree (BA) with significant relevant experience may also be considered.

Experience:
A minimum of two years of practical experience in international cultural cooperation is required, including experience in multi-partner project implementation and management. Candidates should have a proven track record of working in an international environment and managing complex projects.

Languages:
Excellent knowledge of English, both written and spoken, is mandatory. Knowledge of additional languages may be considered an asset.

Additional Notes:
The position is a project appointment with a duration of one year. It is open to both internal and external candidates, but only nationals from Bosnia and Herzegovina may apply. The approximate annual starting salary for this position is 88,123 BAM, and benefits may include 30 days of annual leave, family allowance, medical insurance, and a pension plan.
