The internship is unpaid and requires full-time commitment, with interns expected to work five days a week under the supervision of designated staff members. The role involves supporting the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration core team in various capacities, including program and partnership support, communication support, and administrative assistance. Interns will engage in activities such as establishing and managing partnerships, organizing meetings and outreach events, and assisting with communication efforts related to the Decade's initiatives.
Duties and Responsibilities: Interns will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including: A. Programme and Partnerships support: - Assisting in the establishment and management of partnerships for the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration, including due diligence processes and developing tool kits and guidelines. - Organizing internal and external meetings and outreach events, preparing necessary background materials, and writing reports. - Supporting the daily communication and official correspondence of the UN Decade core team. - Managing the official email for the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration and ensuring quality control. - Providing coordination support for flagship activities and the Advisory Board. - Offering administrative, project management, and information management support. B. Communication Support: - Assisting with the daily communication and correspondence of the UN Decade core team. - Managing the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration’s website and ensuring its regular quality control. - Compiling and distributing the UN Decade’s monthly newsletter. - Coordinating translation needs for communication materials. C. Carrying out other duties as required on a needs basis.
Required Qualifications: Applicants must meet one of the following criteria at the time of application: - Be enrolled in a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher) focused on Environmental Sciences, Environmental Policy, Communications and Public Relations, International Relations, Law, Development Studies, or related fields. - Be in the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum Bachelor's level or equivalent). - Have graduated with a university degree. Additionally, applicants should be computer literate in standard software applications, possess good report writing skills, demonstrate pleasant interpersonal skills, and have the ability to interact successfully with individuals from diverse cultural backgrounds. A keen interest in the work of the United Nations and a personal commitment to the ideals of the UN Charter are also essential.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this internship includes being a student in the final year of a first university degree program (bachelor's or equivalent), or being enrolled in a master's or Ph.D. program, or having completed a bachelor's, master's, or Ph.D. program. The field of study should be closely related to the responsibilities of the internship, particularly in areas that can significantly contribute to the work of the UN Decade on Ecosystem Restoration Unit.
