Job Overview:
The Community Engagement Supervisor plays a crucial role in the successful integration of refugees, asylees, and other immigrants into welcoming communities. This position is responsible for leading programming that connects clients with community-based resources and fosters relationships between newcomers and local residents. The supervisor will work closely with IRC staff to assess community needs, coordinate outreach efforts, and develop strategies that enhance community engagement. The role involves designing and implementing effective local community engagement strategies, which include promoting IRC’s mission, facilitating donations, and encouraging community sponsorship of clients. The supervisor will also be tasked with increasing community involvement through outreach initiatives, presentations, and the creation of informational materials. This position serves as the primary liaison between IRC and local community members, ensuring that the needs of clients are met and that community members are actively engaged in supporting refugee and immigrant families.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Community Engagement Supervisor will have a diverse set of responsibilities, including but not limited to: refining and implementing community engagement strategies that benefit both the community and IRC clients; collaborating with IRC colleagues to amplify messaging about the organization’s work; increasing community engagement through outreach activities; meeting with community members and delivering presentations; organizing and presenting quarterly consultations; planning and implementing events that foster connections between newcomers and volunteers; serving as the primary point of contact for community members; providing orientation and ongoing support to community sponsorship participants; coordinating with colleagues to ensure timely service delivery; assisting with the collection and distribution of donations; and managing logistics for community events. Additionally, the supervisor will be responsible for recruiting, training, and evaluating staff performance, as well as supervising volunteers and interns involved in community engagement programs.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates for the Community Engagement Supervisor position must possess a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university. They should have at least 2 years of related professional experience, with a strong preference for those who have prior volunteer or professional experience in community development or volunteer coordination. Experience working with refugee and/or immigrant populations is highly desirable. Candidates should demonstrate strong presentation skills and the ability to engage audiences in both small and large settings. Furthermore, strong relationship-building, diplomacy, and networking skills are essential, along with the ability to communicate effectively in a multicultural environment. A self-starter attitude, excellent problem-solving skills, and the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities are also required.

Educational Background:
The educational requirement for this position is a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution. This educational background provides the foundational knowledge necessary for understanding community dynamics, social services, and the challenges faced by refugees and immigrants.

Experience:
The ideal candidate should have a minimum of 2 years of relevant professional experience. This experience should ideally include work in community development, volunteer coordination, or direct service with refugee and immigrant populations. Candidates with a strong background in community engagement and outreach will be particularly well-suited for this role.

Languages:
Fluency in English, both spoken and written, is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in additional languages is considered a valuable asset, particularly languages commonly spoken by refugee and immigrant populations in the service area.

Additional Notes:
This position may require a combination of standard office work, remote work, and fieldwork within the service delivery area. Candidates should be prepared for potential weekend and evening work as needed. The compensation for this role is set at $62,700, with pay ranges applicable to US-based candidates.
