Job Overview:
The Programme Associate (Public Information & Executive Office Support) plays a crucial role in enhancing the visibility and public image of UNESCO's office in Pakistan. This position is responsible for providing technical and operational support in digital communication, public information, and executive office coordination. The incumbent will assist in preparing, disseminating, and monitoring communication outputs that align with UNESCO’s corporate communication standards and donor visibility requirements. The role also involves facilitating workflow management and correspondence tracking within the Director’s Office, ensuring effective communication and coordination among program and administrative colleagues, as well as external partners. The position demands a high level of discretion, organizational skills, and sound judgment in handling sensitive matters, adhering to UNESCO’s rules and regulations applicable to Service Contract personnel.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Programme Associate include: A. Communication and Visibility Support:
  • Manage and update UNESCO's digital platforms, including the website and social media channels, ensuring compliance with branding standards and donor visibility requirements.
  • Develop, draft, edit, and disseminate communication products in English, such as web content, social media posts, newsletters, and multimedia materials.
  • Coordinate with program teams to collect, curate, and package content for internal and external dissemination.
  • Liaise with external service providers to ensure timely delivery of high-quality communication products. B. Executive Office and Coordination Support:
  • Provide administrative and coordination support to the Director’s Office, including calendar management and correspondence handling.
  • Support the planning and organization of high-level meetings, workshops, and official visits, preparing necessary documentation.
  • Maintain records and documentation systems, ensuring accessibility and compliance with internal procedures.
  • Track and coordinate administrative tasks to ensure smooth workflows. C. General Support:
  • Undertake additional tasks as assigned by the Country Representative or Head of Office, in line with evolving office priorities.

Required Qualifications:
The required qualifications for the Programme Associate position include:
  • A Bachelor’s degree in communication, journalism, public relations, digital media, business administration, or a related field.
  • A minimum of 3 years of progressively responsible experience in communication, digital media, administration, or executive/management support, preferably within the UN system or an international organization.
  • Strong drafting, editorial, and content production skills in English.
  • Proficiency in digital communication tools, content management systems, and analytics.
  • Excellent organizational, coordination, and time-management abilities.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in communication, journalism, public relations, digital media, business administration, or a related field. This educational background is essential for understanding the principles of effective communication and public relations, as well as the technical skills required for managing digital content and communication strategies.

Experience:
Candidates are required to have a minimum of 3 years of progressively responsible experience in communication, digital media, administration, or executive/management support. This experience should preferably be within the UN system or an international organization, demonstrating the ability to work in a complex and dynamic environment while managing multiple tasks effectively.

Languages:
Fluency in English and Urdu (spoken and written) is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in local languages is desirable and will be considered an asset, as it enhances communication with diverse stakeholders and communities.

The position is a Service Contract with a duration of 7 months, tentatively from 15 May to 31 December 202
