Job Overview: The Field Coordinator plays a crucial role in the implementation of the STRengthening Infectious disease DEtection Systems (STRIDES) Activity at the provincial and city levels in the Philippines. This position involves a variety of responsibilities, including strengthening laboratory and surveillance systems, detecting and responding to outbreaks, and managing information effectively. The Field Coordinator is expected to ensure seamless coordination with regional health and agriculture offices, local government units, public and private laboratories, and other key stakeholders. This role is vital for providing technical, operational, and monitoring support to guarantee that project implementation is of high quality, timely, and compliant with established standards. The Field Coordinator will also be involved in planning and facilitating events, trainings, and workshops, ensuring that all activities align with project objectives and are executed smoothly.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Field Coordinator is responsible for a comprehensive set of tasks that include serving as the primary provincial focal point for project activities, overseeing local-level operations, managing implementation issues, and ensuring accurate reporting. Key responsibilities include leading collaboration with regional field offices of the Department of Health and Department of Agriculture, maintaining relationships with implementing partners and local stakeholders, and participating in local networking activities. The Field Coordinator will also be tasked with planning and facilitating events and trainings, monitoring project supplies and equipment, and preparing timely reports. Advanced training in laboratory systems, biosafety, surveillance, or antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is considered an advantage. The position requires a minimum of 1-3 years of relevant experience in public health, laboratory systems, surveillance, or outbreak response. Experience working with the Department of Health, City Health Departments, Local Government Units, or donor-funded projects is preferred. Familiarity with laboratory quality management systems, biosafety protocols, infection prevention and control (IPC), and surveillance systems is also desirable. Strong data management, analysis, and reporting skills are essential, along with proficiency in MS Office and digital tools.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Medical Technology, Public Health, Biology, Nursing, or other health sciences.
